I dunno about that turbo man. Think about it... The turbo is at th eback to the truck, dont you htink the lag is going to be huge? The air has to travel all theway from the back of the truck, up into the motor. I just think the lag would be crazy. I dunno though.

The turbo's been talked about in 4 (well, at least 3) different threads in the last two weeks. The cost is stoopid high for what you get, and like Tacoma said, the lag would be nuts in our rigs.

If you see the dyno chart, the lag does not look like a problem, especially for a street truck. The problem is that your air filter is below the truck, really bad for off-road(although it gets plenty of cool air). Maybe to make it work for off-road, you would have to route the intake pipe and filter into the bed w/ some kind of cover. The long piping acts as an intercooler. I think this is a very clever idea for street trucks, but not 4x4's.

IMO, if this was such a bad design or whatever you want to call it. Looks like the company is making a lot of $$$ and has anybody searched for reviews on the actual product before making any assumptions?

I've seen a Camaro SS running one and the lag was awful for what is not really a big turbo and for the cost he was still was trapping slower than my Eclipse in the 1/4.
Having a turbo under your car exposes it to road debris and cold water/snow on a hot turbo can stress the housing and develop cracks most likely on the exhaust housing side.

After about 5 minutes of driving, if you run into a puddle, that turbo is gonna crack like its its job...HOT cast iron + Cool water = $$$$
Turbos arent cheap either. ANd I doubt only the turbo would crack. That exhaust pipe before the turbo would crack too...
But Im seriously debating getting the Airaid MIT tho...it looks pretty cool..But at the same time i want an AEM...

The question I have is could it be run in conjunction with a TRD supercharger due to it's location? In addition, could it be safeguarded away from the road debri, etc? If you could run both together, it could be a pretty wicked setup. You wouldn't notice the lag, you'd have great low end torque, and great high end HP. Could it work?

I have more than a passing interest in the intake tube - if for nothing else than its simplicity. I ask though, why doesn't Toyota simply design the intake tract in a similar fashion? Is it for noise control, and if so, does the MIT cause a noticeable increase in intake sound? It certainly costs more to produce the elaborate intake setup that our trucks come with.
Any actual experience with these?

i made an intake like that out of 3" school bus exhaust
it was cheap.. and easy to do.
the truck gets quite noisy.. so yes.. toyota makes it the way they do to quiet it down.
my truck sounded pretty loud after the pipe.. and didn't gain much.
