new here and some questions

Hi All,

Nice site and good info. I did not see a search funtion here, so sorry if this is a repeat/ already answered question.

On my 1st gen? runner, the articulation has much to be desired. I got twisted up last week, and lifted a rear wheel like always, and got out to check the IFS bump stop. There was still about 3/4" clearance before the arm hit the stop. I had been told that the stop was my main problem. Do you think the anti-sway bar was causing this, or can I do somthing to the rear suspension to "free it up"? Both front tires were on the ground, but a rear was lifted about 10".

BTW, that torsion bars are cranked by previous owner, and I added 2" blocks to the rear to level it out. Heck, maybe my shocks are to short?

Welcome to the board LVS.
Yes, we do have a search function here, and it's one of the best out there compared to other boards

It's located above right below the 3 gen 4Runner picture.

On the IFS bump stops, I just posted this morning on that in my winter tire thread.

Those bump stops are from Energy Suspension, and you can find a lot of online shops that sell them, or local 4x4 shops.
The ones I have are called the "low profile" model, and are made out of polyurathane.

Cranking up the T bars will make you loose a little articulation in the front, and the bumps that I have can free up a little.

thanks corey.

When I was tweaked, if i was looking correctly, the bump stop wasn't touching the a arm yet.

Yes, in addition to your cranked T bars, the sway bar is limiting your front articulation. You can either buy/make quick disconnects or take it off completely. Take a look at my webpage and you'll find how I made my QDs.

Your rear shocks are limiting your rear, you'll need to get some longer ones. But if you do that you'll need to get longer brake lines (if you don't already) and possibly other minor mods to the various hoses and lines attached to the axle.

Welcome to the Forum Mike! Hey guys this is my Brother I finally got him to join in with the fun. Hopefully you can come up with something to remedy your problem. Think there is a way you could do a max flex and then see if your shocks will travel any farther either by looking on the cylinder or disconnecting one? Just a thought!

oops, didn't realize it is a first gen. All my IFS advice still applies, but not sure about the rear.
