New guy in Seattle
Hi All,
I've finally joined after reading all your informative posts. I've specifically looked at the ones for cleaning/ waxing and suspension mods.
I live in Seattle and have a black 98 4Runner Ltd. It always rains right after I wash my rig and I have been fairly lax this winter. It does stay in the garage overnight but gets rained/ bird pooped on without fail, everytime I go out.
I'm going to buy a P/C 7336 from Lowes and go online for the pads, wax, polish, clay, etc.
Also, I've never changed the OEM tires or shocks from when I first bought the car, 62k miles ago. Planning on some Bridgestone AT Revos and Bilsteins. Not sure about the tires yet; either those or Michelin LTX's or Goodyear Fortera's.
I thought I saw some local Washingtonians on this board. Please let me know which local shops/ stores and mechanics you frequent.
thanks!

You'll find a lot of others on this board who are from Seattle & WA as well.
Do you wheel your 4Runner too? You could hook up w/some others on here for trail rides, if you do.

Welcome to the boards 4Runna.
I am in Auburn, South of you.
For a fair Toyota shop that has not jacked me around, I use Doxon's in Auburn.
Also a member on the board here works at Seattle Toyota I believe.
For custom shops to get 4x4 supplies from, I go to Central 4WD in Kent.
The Porter Cable is a great unit, and the stuff I use.
However after reading on the board here, a lot of the guy's who have black or dark colored rigs swear by the Zaino stuff.
There are a few posts here with info on where to get the stuff.
A Porter Cable though is still handy though, as you can use it with a Griot's clay bar holder, and clay your entire rig in less time that you could by hand.
And if you ever plan on getting custom bumpers or sliderz, Badland Bumpers is a great place.
Several on the board here me included have dealt with Jeff on many an occasion.

4Runna,
For a black 4runner, i highly suggest you get the Zaino Bros products. Search Zaino and read why.
Impulsebrklyn here just recently wrote a good thread on his positive impressions of Zaino.

Welcome 4runna,
I'm in Seattle as well. This is a great board for information, as well as setting up offroad trips, and there are alot of Washinton folks here on this board.

I second the recommendation for Doxon Toyota. Also if you're looking to do an exhaust upgrade, Stans Headers in Auburn is the place to go. Some other sites of interest are: www.zainobros.com
www.sspinc.com
and
www.stongard.com
Now go and watch the money in your wallet get smaller and smaller and smaller and smaller

Just a note about tires- I've been running the Bridgestone AT Revos for about 2 months now and love them. They have great wet pavement traction. Go to Tirerack.com and check up on the reviews that people have submitted on any of the tires you're looking into. I ended up ordering from them, even with shipping and mounting costs it was still cheaper than buying them at a local shop.

Thanks all for the replies.
I did do a search on Zaino Bros and I might have to check that out.
I'm not much of a rock hopper more like a gravel driveway hopper.
I'll get some pictures up of the swirls & scratches I have so you can see the before and after pics.
Mad Chemist, I'm glad to see someone else has the tires I was looking at. When you get a chance can you post a pic of your wheels? Either send me a PM or post a reply. Not sure if I want the lettering to be on the inside or outside. Thanks!

I debated that issue for a while, and ended up with the letters on the outside. I'll try to get some pics posted soon, I don't have a dig. camera, but have a roll of film ready to be developed. I think it depends on whether you want to go for a sportier look or not, I think the lettering on the outside makes it look more like an off-road vehicle, but that might be just wishful thinking on my part. I stared at other SUV tires for a long time to see trends one way or the other. Most 4-runner owners keep the white hidden, so I decided to be a little different.

You should come to the Spokane Raceway this weekend for the Auto Show. I should see you at the F2unning booth. I will be leaving the DC area on Thursday and will be there this weekend. I hope to see you there.
You will get a chance to see a very nice 4Runner or two...

Your not driving from Maryland all the way over to Washington State are you?
Or are you talking about a different Spokane?
