Welcome man!

As Cebby said, nice to have another addition to the growinig 2nd Gen. population!

One thing I would do first hand would be upgrade your rear coils to the 1.5" Downey HD Coils...ask Mike from XTreme Off-Road about them...he can get you a good deal on em too!

Fink

EDIT: Forgot I am dealing with a nOOb...those beefed up rear coils will deal with the well-known 2nd Gen. rear-end sagging problem. Major difference in appearance.

It has a lot of miles, 190,000 but rides exceptionally smooth. I also bought a Chiltons Guide on it. I am not a master mechanic, but i can work on a car with a guide book. If anyone out there can tell me some major things to look for with a 91, or that 2nd Gen in general i would really appreciate it.

I am glad to finally be in your world...haha. I look forward to reading and posting threads. Im glad there is a site like this out there.

I live in Lakewood WA, so if there is anyone in my area who knows a lot about them that would rock too. Thanks guys, and gals, ill talk to you later.
Welcome to Yotatech.

And

Let us see your 4 Runner. Inside and outside.

welcome man,
i have a '90 runner, go 2ng gen!
anyway the first things i think are fun to do to get yourself acquainted with your new baby is probably stuff like new plugs, an oil change, some simple mods like opening up the airbox a bit and brushing out the throttle body. just some simple little stuff that can make enough of a difference to make you feel like you accomplished something.

Maybe later when you feel like spending a bit o' cash i would recommend doing a small lift by installing the downey coils that were mentioned earlier and cranking up the front torsion bars just a touch, and installing some ow profile bump stops. that is about the best most economical suspension upgrade for the second gen, unless you plan on getting crazy and doing a solid axle swap!

by the way did you mention what engine you have? i must have missed it :beaver:. i ask because if you have a v6 then the head gasket is something you ought to look into, heck you might even get a brand new engine out of the deal! but if you have a 22re 4cyl then the timing chain is the big issue there if it hasnt been replaced.

nothing i have experienced with my rig have been too much to handle or too expensive, especially since these yotas are so easy to work on yourself, just dive in! go toyota!

Welcome

Hey congrat on the 2nd gen

Mines a 2nd too. Dream big dreams and have fun you'll be surprised at what your runner can do...try to read as much as you can before doing anything to your rig. I changed my mind a couple of times. There are really good people here on the web site and they are very helpful.

peace and good runnings to you
