Hey guys!

New owner here, just though I'd register and say hello. This past weekend I purchased an 1989 Toyota SR5 Extended Cab in Chicago. It's very, very clean with only a few small rust spots that I intend to fix before next winter. It's got 165k on what I assume is the original 3.0 motor. I've always wanted one of these trucks and finally found one to my liking. A few things about it:

1) I know it's got a lift but how do I determine what size lift is on the truck?
2) It's got 32x12.50x15 tires that are fairly worn. I'd like to fit 33s or 35s on depending on the rim width and lift, any brand recommendations?
3) Axel shafts - both are bad. Any cheap source for these?
4) Wipers don't work. Where should I start to track this down? I've already checked the fuse.

1) Ordered a lund bug shield, and it's on the way.
2) Ready to order a steering stabilizer, but (don't shoot me) I'm not sure if it's an IFS or solid axle? (I'm very new to trucks)

Since I got it this weekend I had to put a new cat and cat back on, pulled at least 100+ feet of access stereo wire, and rotten rollbar/front bumper wires out of the truck, and somehow fixed the in dash clock. Planning to tint the windows, sand down and coat the frame, and a few other minor things when the weather gets nice. Turns out with the lights it won't fit into my garage

I've been browsing the boards here for a few weeks and I am really glad to have found this site. I can't wait to spend more time on here reading and learning.

On a side note, this truck is my daily driver. My weekend toy is an 1993 Mazda RX7 that I have owned 5 years, very heavily modified

just looking at the pic, it might have a 1 inch body lift? maybe torsion bar adjusted?
You don't want to go bigger than 33's. The front cv shaft will go. I got a spare one in good condition if you want it. Bewarn, shipping will be steep. I'm in CA..
To put 33's on, go with ball joint spacer in front and chevy springs in the rear.

Becareful hanging around here though, we'll reverse the daily driver and weekend toy for ya.

I'm also new to the site. I'm building a 91 4runner with 8+ inches of lift (SAS) and 15X39.5X15 TSL swampers with 529 gears & lockers. I don't think its the most popular thing on this site. But a lot of good info nun the less. I wuold guess the closest rocks would be around Birmingham, AL. about 5+ hours away. The mud is just down the street.

The boots are just about completely torn off, and they look like they've been that way for a while. The shop that I had look at them yesterday said they were shot, but they wanted $687 to replace both! I'd rather buy the parts and try it myself.

I'm not sure why, but I was thinking 31s were the biggest you could fit from the factory without a lift, so I was guessing that since I've got 32s I probably has a small lift. I was hoping to tuck 33s without lifting it anymore.

As far as swapping daily drivers, that's not gonna happen RX7 + wet pavement = bad

i know 2nd gen runners can fit 32x12.5s with little or no rubbing, so your truck should be in the same boat.. as far as parts.. a good/cheap aftermarket site i've dealt with is http://www.rockauto.com

the previous owner must of done alot of hauling, the rear looks to be sagging quite a bit... as for the height, looks stock to me? but im more into runners then trucks..

Good lookin truck, I wish my paint was that nice. I'd ditch the light covers and the import decals though. I wouldn't go bigger than the 32s. My friend has 33s and stock gearing and he never sees 5th gear.

I don't mind the decals (yet) but the light covers are getting the axe this weekend. I don't drive much on the highway so 33s are still in the picture whenever these 32s are done for

Nice Truck!!! Looks better than mine...doesn't take too long in the NE for trucks to start rusting....uh. Maybe check the wiper motor?

I do not think the truck has been lifted per say....looks to me that PO might have put a 1" or maybe just stiffer spring in the back and cranked up the torsion bars......You can check for a lift kit by looking where the body bolts to the frame....if there is a gap there that has some sort of plate or bar looking thing then it has some lift added and the amout is the same as the thickness or height of the plate or bar....that is for body lift kits......for SUS lifts I think a check for ball joint spacers will confirm some SUS lift....I just dont really see any lift in these pics. I am in Japan and I had one of my co workers tell me what the sticker says...it is kanji for.....MAXIMUM SPEED......and IMHO dump the rotor it is no good for weekend trips to the mud and rock......
