New to Forums - Alarm Question
Hey guys, just bought a 2003 Double Cab and thought I'd join the party here.
Just one question though. My Taco has a keyless entry system without the VIP alarm. I've spotted them for pretty cheap, but just wanted to know just how hard it is to install. I'm fairly handy, and I've read it's a simple harness plug in. Is there any insights?

Thanks for the welcome. I've actually been out a bit this morning around the 7th St. and Bell/Union Hills area, and most of the stations are pumping. I topped off my tank this morning at QT at 7th St. and the 101 with no waiting. Just pulled right in and pumped.

The big question still remains: Does anyone have Super Unleaded?

Desert,
Type in "RS3200" on ebay. I believe i've seen them for $99 there. Brand new.
Take a look at the install manual for the RS3000 on my page: http://www.4runners.org/articles/rs3000 its a downloadable pdf file
From my understanding, the process is the same. Everything plugs together neatly with harnesses but you'll have to run the wires behind panels.
Also, if they say to mount the alarm unit underneath the seat, mount the unit on a piece of 1/2" piece of pine or something similar. Read this thread and my experience:

And welcome to the forum.

If you have keyless entry on your truck already all you need to buy is the upgrade to make it the alarm. All the upgrade consists of is a microphone that listens for glass breakage. I got mine on ebay for like $80 or something like that.

Thats what I got on ebay and it worked great.

Yep its all there. Under the dash near the steering column there is a wire that gets unplugged. You can then plug int he glass breakage sensor into a plug that is located under the dash also. The alarm module is located in the kick panel on the drivers side and can be adjusted for sensitivity. It comes with instructions on exactly how to do it.

I've bought it on Ebay and installed it myself. Trust me, it is SO easy. I've never taken my interior apart and it took me 2hrs. No splicing of wires are required, all you do is plug and play, even the plugs are idiot-proof and will not plug into an incorrect one. the instruction makes it impossible for you to install it incorrectly. This has been written for service guys at Toyota dealer, need i say more?
Oh BTW when you get it installed, make sure the glass breakage sensor is set at least 1 over the suggested sensitivity. i believe the defult they recommend is 5..or6.. i cranked it over one more. i tested out the defult setting and it'd not sensitive enough.
