new bilsteins installed this morning!
Well we finally got the new Bilsteins installed this morning on my dads 02 Taco trd, WOW what a difference, I was shocked that the rear stock Bilsteins were TOTALLY dead, there is NO resistance left in them at all with only 45,000 miles thats just sad. The fronts where not fun, we broke a set of cheap-o spring compressors and had to go rent another set, then we got the front passenger side in and the wheel back on when we saw the damn rubber bushing still on the bench! :pat: So after ripping it back apart its all done and what a difference I just hope the "real" Bilsteins hold up better than that TRD crap that came with it, oh yeah I talked him into ordering a set of Revos, he almost bought another set of the Rugged Trails that came on it just thought I would share!

Ahh yes the front is major pain. I just did a bilstein installation on my 4runner yesterday with great help from Tacoma Dude. It is a much better ride than my old stock suspension.
I hope no one got hurt when the springcompressor broke.

Broken spring compressor
No one got hurt thank god; I have heard horror stories of people getting seriously injured via coil spring! We still had the top nut on the shock when the compressor let go on the one side, which I am glad that neither one of us was holding the spring at the time because it bent over and probably would have removed ones finger tips! The part of the compressor that you turn with a socket snapped off like a broken bolt, NOT COOL. I do remember years ago when I used to race a Nissan Altima SE we were installing a set of Eighbach springs and Tokico struts “with the same spring compressors!!!”, well after a few beers we were on the last one, I didn’t have the spring compressed nearly far enough and removed the top cap bolt!!! That was interesting, but that’s another story! It is a night and day comparison to the TRD Bilsteins and the regular ones we installed this morning, Toyota should have just installed the standard Bilstiens from the beginning not the skinny trash that we removed this morning! Have a good one, matt
