Well I feel I have had enough practice on the iterm. trails and am ready to beat my '96 4Runner up on the more difficult. I am adding R.B.'s rock sliderz as soon as they are ready, and have just removed the packing of my new ARB bull bar and 9000 winch. It looks pretty straight forward as for installation, but I would like to have some experience via a write up in my back pocket. I have done a bunch of searches, but can't seem to find any. I could have swore I saw it in the archives somewhere before. Could someone please throw me a link on this write up? I'll post a link for pics for anything interesting along the way in the install and of course the final result. Thank you for your time. Wheel on.....

Just wanted a couple of pics and pointers, and that write up delivered exatly that. One quick question though; I am installing a R.B. 1" body lift,(which hasn't arrived yet), and saw that the body mounts in the front are do-able with the original bumper in place. I am having trouble waiting for the lift to arrive before I put the ARB bumper on. Will I have the same, or enough clearence to install the kit on the front body mounts with the ARB bumper installed, or should I just show some self control and wait until the lift arrives?

You do know that there will be a gap between the bumper and body if you do a body lift right?

 

It's only 1", so the gap between the bumper and body is not a big deal to me. I thought R.B. sells a bracket for the front bumper that relocates the bumper up to close the gap. Either way, it's no concern to me.

 

No kidding, Im not sure why ppl have a problem with a gap...

me personally, love the gap, in fact given the choice I would keep it.

You are right, some gap is best.

 

I got the bumper brackets with my kit...now I'm debating on whether or not to get the bumper moved up or not. I may just have them do it later if need be...

The bumper brackets that RB sells only work on the stock bumper. The bumper mounts for ARB and TJM take advantage of the bolts on the bottom of the frame rails that hold the tow hook and tie downs from the factory. Since this mount wraps under the frame for these bolts and can't simply be resolved by using a lift bracket like RB sells. But the gap is not that big of a deal anyway.
