Crew Cab Taco looks good to me. If you put a topper on it you have about the same storage area and seating area as the 4Runner. Its also about 6,000 to 7,000 less. I love the 1st, 2nd and 3rd generations but this one is very dissapointing. Those squared off wheel wells are I stil like chrome bumpers and some chrome trim all that painted plastic just doesnt do it for me. I still think the ugliest vehicles out there are the Chev Avalance and the Aztec, the 4th generation still isnt in there league in my book. I have seen spy photos before look nothing like the actual vehicle the end up producing. I hope thats the case.

I was riding next to an (UGH!) Avalanche today and I realized that more than anything else, it PISSES me off that Toyota would copy styling cues from a GM product. No matter what they did, I think that bugs me more than anything else.

If it ain't broke don't fix it...4runner already looks awesome...no need for some cheap plastic panels and retro looks that appeal to soccer moms

Regarding the 2003 4 Runner pics

The pics posted of the 2003 4 Runner to me looks "soft" and not very aggressive. Hope they come up with some good aftermarket goods. Looks like a Chevy Trailblazer...........just my opinion...

fakes

These pictures are fakes. I did a large amound of editing and zooming and resizing in Photoshop and Paint shop pro. The emblem and all the wording on the blue car is pasted. It actually comes in in a little different resolution then the rest of the picture. If anyone wants one of the updated pictures showing the fakage let me know.

Hmmmm

True, the pictures look fake, at least the one showing the rear-end of the 4Runner, you can see some pixel editing around the words "Toyota" and "4Runner".

But what SUV could that be ????

Wait a second now, these pics are not fake.
http://www.pnw4runners.net/2003_4runner/

A member on the forum here took them outside of a business that he is assocaiated with.
They even ran the Runners up on the rack of the shop to get a look underneath.

I'm sure if Paul sees the post here he will let you know that he did indeed shoot these pics.

You know Corey, I wish they were fake.... Trading my 99 for a new 2003 was a done deal (in my mind) until I saw those pictures. I never thought Toyota could screw up that badly.

The front is not that bad despite its Rav4 looks I could get used to it, the rear-end also is nice but the squarish look over the wheels throws me off badly, very badly

Lets hope the ride is 3rd gen-like.

I still think I need to see it in person before making a final judgement.

I hope that PaulS will confirm that these pics were fakes... or not

I too could live with the front & rear looks if I was in the market for something new, but the sides don't go overwell with me at all.
I don't like the squarish look at all.

That being said, my choice would be the new TRD 2003 Tacoma with 4 doors, and the full size bed they are coming out with later.
Right now the bed is a little short on space with the 4 door model.

Drew, I am going to have to call you on this. I just spoke with Bill at the shop the pics were taken at. He test drove the '03 4Runner and said it was real nice.
It has some kind of air suspension that will raise the vehicle up, and lower it.
And seeing it in person he says the flares are not as fugly as the pics show.

It also has some kind of new antilock brake system on it that will prevent the wheels from locking up.

They had the rig in his shop to get it in the air to take video and pics from underneath, and for a magazine shoot.

The pics are not fake.

Hello everyone, Drew goodmorning. Well I have to say that the pictures are not fake and everyone will see that when the 2003 4Runner comes out. I have the pictures on the camera still if anyone in the Maple Valley Washington area would like to see them. I see that I have had 74 downloads of my pictures on webshots and over 40,000 views. Funny that even a dealer was using my pictures on their site of the 2003 4Runner.

Are you friends with someone at the magazine that was taking pictures of the new 4runner? I wasn't suppose to take pictures of it. I said I was sorry,If I blew there shoot.

We will just have to wait and see. I can email pictures to people if they want me to.

The pictures are not fake! Maybe the one of the TRD tractor trailer, NOT!!!
