Need a new motor!

Well I managed to high center my 85 in a mudhole the other night and proceed to spin a rod bearing. Knockin like a wood pecker now Long story short I walked 7 miles of the mountain in the dark in 20 degree weather. So what to do now? Whats my best option on replacing the motor. A rebuild? A short block? May need a head though as after I pulled it out with my 92 my friend drove it off the mountain for me and ran it hot! Spewed out all the anti-freeze. Checked oil but doesnt look like it mixed though. Would I be better off to just find a rough truck locally with a good motor? Never had any experiance with these motors so any help is appreciated!

your engine is really easy to rebuild! probably about the most straightforward engine to rebuild that exists. the only special tools you need are a ring compressor, ring expander, snap ring pliers, and a torque wrench.

take apart the engine, and take the block(with main caps), crankshaft, rods and the head into the machine shop and get everything checked out. they will tell you what oversized pistons, bearings etc you will need. then order your master kit from engnbldr($215 last i remember), and have the shop bore/grind everything to match your parts.
