Heres my 2 cents. When I had to have valve work done to mine, I sent the heads and cams to DOA for a port and polish and cam regrind. Tim from DOA said to replace the stock exhaust from the downpipe back with a 2.5" system. he said that even unmodified v6 4 runners with the 3.0L should have a 2.5" system. He said to leave the stock manifolds in place and connect up to where both banks come together. After I had the heads done and put back on, I was running the stock system with a 2.25" catback that was previously on the 4 runner. I noticed that the other mods I did had helped. I tested it setup like this. Then I had the 2.5" system installed. Big improvement. Still not a necksnapper off the line, but on my little test track where at the end with the 2.25" catback I was doing 60 mph, now with the 2.5" system, I am doing 68 to 70. So in my case, it helped a lot. See the pics on my webshots page in the 90 4 runner section for pics of the exhaust.

BTW I like your Camaro. I want to build up a 69 some day. Not a resto or full out race car, but a highly modded and tricked out street and strip car using newer suspension parts, 4 wheel disks, shaved door handles, eletronic door openers and the like. I have a 96 350 4 bolt main truck engine I am going to rebuild here soon. Intake leaked I think and took chunks out of the pistons and broke a few of the skirts. Once I get it all pulled apart I will have the block magnafluxed to make sure it is buildable. It was a freebe so I cant complain. The crosshatch on the cylinders is still visible. I looking in the short term for a 92 Camaro 5 speed. Later.

thanks for the info, i have about a grand to spend on my fourrunner and am thinking of doing complete exhaust from headers to muffler and everything between

i was thinking of going up to 2.25" so id still have some down low power (like there is any now to begin with:rolleyes: ) but gain some top end. up here at 5800ft elevation i need all the any kinda power i can get.

btw if you need any advice or insight on building a chevy or camaro i could help with that one i just dont know anything about four runners yet.

thanks
rick
