I posted a thread recently asking about switching the long side of a 7.5 axle from an 88 to a 91 so I'd have the 4.56's without the funky auto lock mechanism. I got some very helpful replies saying you can just swap that side of the axle from one to the other but I can't figure it out and the Chilton manual doesn't have any info about how to either. What's the trick, I can't find a C-clip or anything inside the pumpkin so please fill my ignorant mind in.

there should be a c clip in there if I remember right....
you're not trying to swap the housing right? just the inner shaft?
