Need Advice on 17" Steel Wheel for 03 Ltd

I'm looking for an extra wheel to mount a second spare tire for my 03 4Runner. Steel wheels would be preferred because the OEM aluminum is over $400.00.

Please advise on any manufacturers or sites to look.

Thanks,
bd

a second spare? why not check online or on the classifieds as you'll find ppl dumping their stocks including the tires (all 4 or even 5) for about $250-500.

Good luck

my American Racing Bajas were $120/wheel, and they're alloy.

Thanks guys. I still can't find a 17" steel wheel. I'm going offroading to a place where it's necessary to have at least two full spares. This spare will go on my Thule rack.

fyi steels are hard to balance, you're better off w/ alum unless you feel otherwise.

like i said b4, just find someone selling stock wheels and call it a day.

Got it. Sounds like a plan. Now to find someone willing to split a set.

Thanks,

amen to that. I had 17" steel wheels and they were impossible to balance and when you spin them you can clearly see why.

Fine if you have a offroad rig but the 4Runner has precise steering and (for me anyway a DD) so it is totally unacceptable.

That's my experience, others may differ.

p.s. -- you also won't have much fun pulling a steelie down from your thule rack when a tire is mounted on there.
