Is this the Pro or the Comp? If it's the Pro, I'm sorry to say that they're selling for about US $50 on eBay.

Brian, I just figured out your challenge. You don't have the patience to read all the posts do ya! He mentioned all that earlier in this thread. I'm not trying to be rue, but figure out why you were missing stuff on the tuning!

Just kidding with ya!

I know, sometimes when I'm away for a whole day there's a lot of reading to catch up on. Some of it though may be very helpful, but it sounds like you are well on your way to have a very nice running truck. I'm really glad it's working well for ya,

Not to bring this thread back around, but I'm going to install the S/C, injectors, spark plugs, spark plug wires, supra MAF, and play with the SMT-6. Look for lots of pics and explanation of how to do it.

Ok superchager on its way!

I also went ahead and ordered this:

Dual Pod

and I also went ahead and ordered this:

tranny cooler

and I also sent off an e-mail to IPT performance for the valve body upgrade.

I think I'm going to do this in two stages. In the first stage I want to get the S/C installed, and do all the necessary upgrades to keep from hurting anything else on the truck (valve body, tranny cooler). Also to correct for any pinging.

In the second stage I want to get the supra MAF, injectors, Fuel pump, plugs, wires, etc.

My questions now are should I order an SMT 6 or an SMT5? Also should I order it now or wait till I'm ready to start the second stage of upgrades? Also is there anything else I should do to complete the first stage of the install? Lastly where can I get a cheap boost gauge, and also what gauge should I put in that second pod?

thanks ...

Have

Too

Much

Money

Are you still gonna wheel that thing? Or did the hydrolocking event scare you into make your rig a street truck now?

I actually don't have a lot of money. I've cut down to one meal every other day. I ride my bike whenever possible to save money on gas. I wash my clothes in the lake, and I haven't had a girl in a little over two weeks. I'm practically a saint!!

j/k, I had been saving up for lockers, and gears for quite some time now, I just changed my mind and decided to do this first. and then do the lockers next spring.

I will keep wheeling, I already contacted the guys with the Va4ROC, and let them know I'll be there in a month or so. But definitley no more deep water crossings. That just wasn't fun. :pat:

Very good idea, because in that first week of tuning you'll do enough damage to your tranny to ruin it. I would recommend the following order:

1) VB upgrade from IPT (By the way is he going to give you the group buy rate? Exchange?
2) When you get the VB back, I'd install it and install the tranny cooler at the same time.
3) Do a complete tranny flush using Amsoil Universal ATF
4) Install the SMT-6
5) Install the S/C
In the second stage I want to get the supra MAF, injectors, Fuel pump, plugs, wires, etc.

My questions now are should I order an SMT 6 or an SMT5?
SMT-6

Now!

I'm having a hard time deciding what gauges to get too. I'm only familiar with Westach and I'm probably going to get a boost gauge, Tranny temp, EGT, CHT, and Fuel pressure in a set of three gauges, with the boost gauge being by itself.

if i wasn't planning on a water injection setup where i need the auxiallry-out switch, i would definitely go with the SMT5. it's cheaper, and has all the functionality of the 6 except for the auxilliary-out, and best of all, seems to work better on the newer trucks because the NE+-out signal has a larger amplitude (confirmed by PP).

i wouldn't waste your money on the 6 unless you're going to use that extra feature. the 5 can control fuel, timing, and additional injectors, and is about $70 cheaper. probably the 6 has fancier Windows software, but you know what . . . i use the Dos software because i can't get the Windows software for the 6 to work anyhow! (the Dos software works great, by the way)

Ok I don't think I'm going to be doing a water injection system yet. But I will be doing the supra MAF, Fuel pump, and injectors very soon (w/in 2-3 weeks after finishing stage one). SO I should go with the SMT5 (my runner is an 02)? I just want to get a consensus on this from the experts.

I haven't heard back from IPT yet? But I just e-mailed him this morning. Do you have a number for him? Maybe that would work faster. As far as the exchange, you said he had a loaner I could use while hes upgrading mine, so I e-mailed him asking him about that as well. How long is the turn around time on those things?

Let me know about which you guys think is better for my set up SMT6, or 5? and I can e-mail OTT performance and get that going as well.

thanks again

email Louie and see what he suggests - he is very honest and won't try selling you the 6 if you don't NEED it. personally, i would go with the 5. Zach just got the 5 for his 2001 runner, so we'll see how it works when he gets it installed in the next few days.
