IPT's number is on their site: http://www.importperformancetransmission.com/

The exchange is even simpler than you think. He ships you the already modified VB, when you recieve it, you removed yours, install the modified one, and ship your back to him. He'll charge you more for the exchange, and then return whatever the additional is once he receives yours back.

As far as the SMT-5 vs. the SMT-6 is I think the main problem is the availablity of the 5.

On another note, I installed everything today, and I'll have more on that later. It's driving fine, but I've got a check engine light on for my stupid Engine Temp of all things. It was working fine the other day, and now it's not. All I've done is splice into the freakin thing, and now it's acting all funny causing a check engine light to come on. More later!

K I got an e-mail from John at IPT, he says he can accomadate me. He did ask me "how I wanted the VB modified for the desired shift feel?"

So how do I want this modified for my desired shift feel?
Also the group buy price was $399 right?

thanks

Yepper on the price, and that's a damn good deal if you've shopped the competition. As far as the shift feel, he knows how he did mine, and he said it was the middle of the road. I love mine, and now that I've driven it with the S/C on, I can do all teh adjustments I want with the throttle kickdown cable if I wanted it firmer.

Lower your fuel lower limit one spot, and keep the 4 in the box for the 800 rpm, put a 2 in the lower one, and a 3 in the one above the 800 box. You're probably not getting the CEL on idle, but rather during startup. Try it and see what happens.

Well I got everything but the fuel pump and ESC1 installed today. It's running great, but I'm not pushing it hard until I get the pump in. Then I'm going to tune it fully before putting the ESC1 on. I'll have more later on, when I have some time to do some pics and stuff for everyone.

k I ordered the SMT5, it should be here soon as well. I need the wiring diagrams for the 2002. He suggested www.alldata.com I'll check that out later. Other then posting here, anywhere else I can check? If I go to the dealer, how much should I expect to pay for them? Will they even give it to me?

let me know ...
thanks

Hey shahzad lemme know when you're gonna install everything. I might try to make the drive just to watch and see how it goes.

Don't go to the dealer for the wiring diagrams. Post a thread on here asking if anyone has them for your year vehicle, and somebody probably does. Good luck on the install!

Hey guys,
I have a few SMT tuning questions...First, I finally installed the MAP sensor and input the signal into AMP on the SMT. So now that I have the vertical column active on the timing map, how do I use it? If I understand Creed correctly, these are multiplicitive factors. So does that mean the number in the vertical column multiplies the "normal" values in the 2D map?
Next question, is anyone using the Lambda tuning function? If so, does this allow for open loop tuning like with the ECS-1 (or did I completely misunderstand that )?
Finally, I know that Creed and Raverncr are trying to reset the scales for the engine temperture (any progress on that BTW?) but do you guys think this is necessary data? In general, my truck warms up pretty quickly and then stays pretty constant under most conditions. So do you guys just want it to work properly (because it annoys me that it isn't set right) or do you expect this to be an inportant input?
thanks a lot,
larry

Yes! 1 in the column means there's a 1:1 ratio. A higher number multiplies it, and lower number divides it.

I tried it this time around, and it didn't work, but I couldn't get any help from Louie or PP, so I gave up screwing with it, and put it back to open loop (MAF tuning). The Lambda tuning is supposed to allow you to tune in closed loop, but I couldn't get a straight answer as to how to connect it. The install manual says to connect the brown/black wire and blue wire for the input and the violet for the out, and then Louie said, but didn't confirm that the brown/black wasn't supposed to be used. So, after waiting a week to hear anything back I went to the normal hookup.

It's just annoying, and there's no apparent use for it with the standard connections. I can't get it to work, though!

Thanks for the confirmation.
I hope you get some feed back on the Lambda tuning, because it would be VERY cool to be able to tune open and closed loop without having to buy anything extra (except a narrow band O2 sensor).
On the issue of the O2 sensor, is there a wide-band sensor available that will work with the SMT (or other AFR meters)? If so, does someone know a website or something?

It can only do one at a time, and not both! It's one or the other!

Hey Chris,
I think I confused you. What I was asking is if there is a wide-band O2 sensor that will work with the SMT? Basically, I plan (at some point) to use either the lambda tuning or an ECS-1. So I would have to put in a narrow-band sensor, unless there is a "better" wide-band sensor I could put in.
So now, let me make sure that I understand how this should work. The "new" O2 sensor would be input for closed loop tuning, while leaving the stock O2 sensor connected to the ECM, correct? What I wish was that there was a wide-band O2 that could replace the stock sensor AND be used for closed-loop tuning; however, I guess I am dreaming on that one.
Thanks again

Ok, let's start over! Do you want to tune open loop or closed loop? And then we'll go from there, okay!
