is this toytec 2" BL for my 98 4runner, install as straight forward as it would seem?

i've done a few other 3" BL before, so its not my first.

i was just looking for some tips or hints on stuff, from you guys that have all ready done this lift.

any help you might have, would be great.

or, if it is as easy as it seems, those comments would be great also

 

I'd just make sure you loosen the bolts that hold the lower part of the steering column to the steering rack (Rag joint I think), before you try and lift the body up and off. Also you might want to loosen the battery cables. I think the cable that runs from the alternator attaches to both the body and the frame. Also remove the lower radiator fan shroud.

Other than that, its straightforward... loosen body mounts, lift body, stick pucks and retighten.

I've installed 3-4 body lifts on 4runners and mine (a 96) was the only one that needed the auto tranny shifter readjusted.

 

body lifts are a breeze.. only thing that takes the longest is getting all the interior stuff taken care of to get to the top of the mounts. Like Baja said, I would def. loosen the steering shaft/column bolts as well as the shifter bolt. Spray the heck out of all the mounts with some wd-40 or some penetrator the night before. Mine (2" 4Crawler) had a radiator drop but I just have yet to do it and haven't seen any issues.

ps.. you're def gonna want bigger meats

I got 3" ome lift on 2" body and my 285's look small... I want 35s haha

i like that pic, i should be almost that tall.
i wanted to get the BL on so i can build some sliders.
and i was going to be needing some tires soon also, and i didnt want another set of 265's

 

Take a look at the wiring harness going from the (+) battery terminal down to the frame. There was no slack in mine ('97 4r) so I made a spacer for that too.

I didn't take off any battery wiring/terminals. I haven't checked for any tight wires but I know I haven't had any problems with the battery or starting so I would say it's fine. There are a couple good write-ups online somewhere. Just gonna have to fiind them.

as i said in the OP, i've done a few 3" BL

and i am a former (expired) "ASE certified Master Tech" mechanic.

i was just looking for some tips before i get started
i am not affraid to ask or seek out wisdom from those who have traveled before me.

 

since my garage is full of torn apart 37 chevy, i have to work on the 4runner outside in the gravel driveway

no rain for 2 days, so here goes nothing, today is the day

Im about to put one on my truck and im kinda nervous/curious.

 

went on a wild goose chase for some 285 BFG ATs (fail), so i didnt start till 230pm
i got the blocks in and bolts dropped through the mounts.
it took forever to get the rag joint apart.
the fuel pump and batt. wires were a good tip, thanks

 

 

done (kinda), i still have to tweek a couple of things that i'm not happy with, but i can drive it.

and i need to make some brackets for the front bumper until i can make a new one for my winch.

i also need to do somthing about the hitch.

as all other BLs i have done, the part where you get the blocks in is the easy part, its all the other odds and ends that sucked.

the worst part was the steering, i had a hard time getting the rag joint bolts out.
then, the old stock bolts had a big shoulder where it went through the rubber in a way bigger hole then the size of the bolt.
the new longer bolts didnt have the shoulder, so i had to scrap up some bushings to fill the hole in the rag joint.

i thought it would look funny with the little 265/75r16 tires, but its ok till i can find some cheap 285s
