On my 3.0 V6 i just used a cheap cherry bomb tube and a 2" or 2.5" pipe from there back. I wasn't looking for anything extreme, just a little throatier and it sounded perfect and was cheap and those things last forever. When the muffler originally fell off I realized that the cat does most of the silencing so I didn't want it much quieter than it already was without a muffler at all. I was shocked how quiet it was without the muffler.

 

i have a flowmaster 40. its not loud to me but to others it would be.
