MPG increase w/ manual hubs ??
I've been debating doing it... Aside from saving my CVs from unneeded miles, can I expect a decent increase in MPG ?
Who out there has done it on a 3rd gen.

Bling bling!
Justinh did it and ducky also... I haven't heard about any mpg bumps... Your not really removing much rolling resistence since its not full time 4wd.

untrue.. the front axels and diff are turning constantly as they are locked with the front wheels, correct? with my push button 4wd, a seloniod clicks and connects the front diff to the front drive shaft, right ? im sure it takes some power to keep all that mess turning...
if nothing else, having manual front hubs would keep the front axles from having to turn all the time, and hopfully save the cv boots... thats my main goal.

Years ago when I had a '79 full-size Bronco, I could see a difference of a couple mpg with the manual hubs.
But the difference in mpg on the 3rd gen is negligible. I was definitely expecting something, but I got nothing in that area. You can notice a decrease in faint vibrations and a miniscule improvement in acceleration since fewer things are turning, but not mpg.
