#3
Check Toyotas Japanese site for all the Hilux Surf (Japanese 4 Runner)options.
http://www.toyota.co.jp/Showroom/All...eup/hiluxsurf/
They have alot of pics. You just have to snoop around the site.
Also, check with "J-spec185" on this forum as he maybe able to get the Surf parts shipped over from the motherland

dudeman:
You can do some of the basic mods:
deckplate mod
filter (should work w/ tundra/lc one i believe if u get the v8)
rear diff breather mod
husky liner (front and rear... cargo will not work w/ dbl deck thingie)
Other than that, if you plan to lift, you're gonna have to wait for about 3-6 months... OME I believe is the only one making specific parts for this 4runner. As for others, I have not heard anything yet. SAW (sway a way) is looking for someone w/ a new 03 4runner that they can loan for 2 wks so they can fab some new saw's for them but that's up n air too.. (someone want to loan em a new 4runner?)
exhaust: you're prob best doing a simple cut and reweld exhaust. no cat back systems available yet (unless u get one from japan - direct trd?)
tires... yes do change em, they're crap! u can fit 265/75/16 easily. atleast some mt's or at's....
we have quite a few 03's here so when things do become available, we'll all prob chime in when it does so just sit tight
happy moddin!

I checked this page out......interesting.
There were only a couple of things in there that looked pretty cool. The other stuff was a little wack.

Off topic question:
sorry, I noticed you said something about a rear diff breather mod. I am always curious when people talk about custom mods. I had to check on the intake silencer mod and the deckplate mod as well. What is the rear diff breather mod? Better yet what do you do, and what does it do for you?

the rear diff mod is a basic mod that's been left out by toyota (dunno why)..
What it is: each differential has a breather (so when oil expands-heat, the air inside must escape so the breather helps that part out). Also the breather is extended beyond the differential so when u encounter water, the water will not seap into the diff. (don't want that)
Toyota made breathers for all 3 parts (front/center/rear). In the front and center, they had extensions up to the engine bay but apparently for the rear they just kept the breather at the diff (which is only 9 inches or so off the ground).
So the rear diff mod is done by all users who just want that added insurance to ensure that water and no other liquid substance will get into the diff.
It's a relatively simple procedure and you can check out the technical section here on yotatech https://www.yotatech.com/~corey/tech...r/breather.htm
if you live in an environment w/ flooding or like to wheel in water terrain areas, this is a def must do mod. for everyone else it's just something to do to ensure nothing bad will happen
This MOD is a reversible mod so not like you will have any warranty issues
hope that answers it all!
