Modifications Area

I created another section on my site, outlining the various things I've done, probably all invoked by someone's post at one point or another.

I think there might be more that just what's there but I'm getting old and don't remember everything quite so well these days.

http://www.hboss.net/4runner/mods.htm

Thanks to anyone/everyone for all their great ideas on mods to do! I'm glad these forums are around.

Good start there Al.
You might wanna name that page 1

I never dreamed I'd end up with 4 pages of mods, but it can happen over time.
This time last year I only had like two pages, and then pages 3 & 4 happened rather quickly.

Mod fever hits in spurts, and when you can find the elusive wallet when it comes out of hiding.

I'll probalby have to start page 5 sometime.

Y'all are right about mod. fever...i'm definitely going through it @ this point in time.. Is there any prescription drug out there to cure this?

Haha..i don't think mod. fever is a bad thing..it's actually quite enjoyable. Suuure all of my paychecks over the course of the entire summer are being pumped into my ride...but at least it's fun!

How is it that you go about changing the turn signals to blue? I have blue indiglo gauges ..and i think the blue turn signals would look a lot better than the current color, green...

And also, if i were to remove any particular bulbs inside my 4runner...for instance the dome lights or any of the bulbs that light the dash area..is it legit to just take them out, and paint them myself..? Does that work for any situation?

For anyone to shed any light on this situation i would be really appreciative..

My current interior consists of blue indiglo gauges..and then the rest of the dash lights are the stock yellowish/green color..and i'd love for it to all coincide. I didn't know if had to search for new bulbs to replace the existing ones..or if painting was an option. Thanks guys..

Hey C2,

'butnut' was the guy with the idea for changing the signal flashers and he's got a write-up on how to do it in the YotaTech Tech section.

As for modifying other lights on the instrument panel, it doesn't look hopeful. Here's the thread where we were discussing it:

https://www.yotatech.com/forums/show...l+flasher+blue

If you figure out a good way to do it, please let us know. I'd love to change the lighting on my dash.

Al

Thanks for the information HBoss..

That kinda sucks though..i can't believe there's no way to alter the dash lights. I guess i'm gonna be stuck..hmm..that's really unfortunate. I was looking forward to at some point having all blue...it bothers me everytime i'm drvin' @ night..haha. Ahh well. Hopefully i'll atleast do the signal lights...

Me too, I'm tempted to rip out the instrument panel and take it all apart. Tear out the bulbs and change them all to blue and put it all back together again and test it!

Well...maybe not that tempted.

I was really 'bulbnut' before butnut. Every bulb on my Runner has been changed except the dash. The AC panel, I used a Taco white face that needed major modification. It is blue icons so the stock bulbs light it blue. The dash shift indicator, ECT, overdrive icons are lit up by clear bulbs. The plastic panel has the transparent color over the various icons. Changing bulb colors will not do anything... My JVC deck has the moving EQ with blue, green, red colors going so it kinda blends the colors I have.

concerning the dome lights, most of the blue bulbs are pretty dark and actually wouldn't be any use except for decoration, I have a half purple half blue bulb in my dome light and it's alright but the stock bulbs are much brighter. You just have to change out the bulb to make it different colors

So butnut...

All your lights around the cd player area (i don't know all the terminology yet..is that called the console? I dunno...) have all been changed? The climate control lights...and all the bulbs around there?

That's what i'm lookin' to do...even if i can't make them blue...white would be an improvement...anything to make it go w/ my blue gauges...

But i could be confused...b/c when you say every bulb except the dash..i'm not particularly sure what you mean by that..i dunno. Anyone's attempt to clear this up for me would be appreciated. I'm still an amateur @ all this..
