Mobil1 gear oil in Canada

Can anyone help me source this stuff??? I've been to every place that carries M1 products and they all say they can't even order the stuff in for me. I'll get another brand synth gear oil if I have to but my oil and trans fluids are M1 and I've had such good luck with them I wanted to keep on using the M1. I'm in Nova Scotia and have tried Canadian Tire, Walmart, Home Hardware, NAPA, Car Quest and some local garages! I don't know where else to try??? Anyone know where to get some?

Where did you find yours? I'm wondering if that will be as hard to find as M1? Have you had good luck with it?

Others have tried to find mobil1 gear oil up here too and here's the result:
http://www.tundrasolutions.com/forum...bil1-gear-oil/

I usually buy my stuff when I go across the border to the US. The mobil1 gear oils are a total noshow up here so I stock up when I can but then again I'm much closer to the border than you are over in NS. If you have a friend that's going down ever, just ask them to stop at the Walmart in Houlton, ME because they have it there. Amsoil is even better, but it may also be even harder to find.

I order mine (M1-75W90) in from a place in town here (Saint John, New Brunswick). The place name is Evans 2000, they are a distributor for Imperial Oil, and they can order it in. To try to help you out a bit, I gave them a call and asked them if they have an office in Nova Scotia that can also order it in. The guy told me "no". Maybe they would bring it in and ship it to you in NS... give them a call at 506-634-8781 and ask.

I'm lucky... their main office is minutes away from me. Last time I bought a case (a year ago), it cost me $170 for 12 quarts. That was almost $30 more than I paid for it a year prior. I'm due to buy another case now... and I'm scared to ask what the price is today...

Amsoil is a little easier for us in Saint John, NB...The local shop that does Rust Check here is also an Amsoil distributor and even stocks the gear lube at their shop.

How much are they selling Amsoil 75W90 and M1 75W90 over there for at this shop? was the $15 per quart for the M1 gear lube?
I might need to have some friends pick some up for me on a trip through sometime.

Not sure if you noticed but the Penzoil Platium synthetic motor oil has dropped down to $18.99 for 5L over at Walmart now. It's definately the cheapest synthetic (Type III or Type IV) that I've found so far. I was using Valvoline Synpower which also works very well but it's almost $10 more for 5L so for now, price wins out in my book.

Jamie,

The Rust Check center (506-633-9393) sells Amsoil 75W90 for $11.75/bottle (quart or liter... not sure) + 14% tax for a total of $13.40 per bottle. They usually only stock 5 to 7 bottles at a time, so large orders must be ordered ahead of time. They don't sell Mobil 1.

Evans 2000 (506-634-8781) sells Mobil 1, but they don't stock it... it must be ordered. Orders must be in before thursday, then arrive at the warehouse by the following tuesday. Mobil 1 sells for $12.40/bottle + 14% tax for a total of $14.14 per bottle.

For motor oil, I stock up on Mobil 1 when Canadian Tire has a sale. A couple of weekends ago, they had 1 liter bottles of Mobil 1 on for $5 each (regular $9+). They also had a coupon available to save $10 on purchases over $40. I bought 8 bottles ($40), and used my coupon which brought it down to $30. I brought those 8 bottles to the car, turned around and went back into the store for another 8 using the same coupon. After taxes I ended up getting them for approx $4.50 per liter. Can't beat that for Mobil 1 in Canada... for 16 bottles, taxes in, I paid a total of $72. Regular price would have been $175 or so.

Thanks for all the replies. I'll have a look around, maybe check out the Rust Check dealer here for fun. I'll be in the city next week so will look there too. I did find a source for the Valvoline synth gold for less than $10/L. Might end up going that way since it's close and easy!

I buy my mobil 1 motor oil at superstore. Decent price and comes along with the groceries.
Usually I pick up a couple of filters at a time at the dealer.

I need gearoil, my input bearing on my 5 spd is whining. I was thinking to use something a little thicker. Last time I put redline in.

Yeah, I've bought the M1 motor oil at the superstore before... they had a clearance sale at one point. $15 taxes in for the large 4.4 liter jugs. I think I bought 6 or 8 of them at the time LOL. They don't sell gear oil there thought (at least not in New Brunswick, they don't).

Wow, that's a good tip, I never would have looked there for the best price on motor oil up here.
I'll need to head over and have a little look to see what's available.

GS, I called these guys and they said they only have the mobil synthetic 75W90 gear oil in 20L pails for around $150. Does this sound right to you? Is that what you bought? They didn't sound like they even carried the bottles at all. Maybe I needed to ask them for a case of the synthetic gear oil? I suspect the price she gave me was not for the full synthetic (although she claimed it was) because I can't imagine there is that much of a price difference to get it in bottles vs pails.

Jamie,
Nope, I get a case with twelve 0.95 liter bottles of Mobil 1 75W90 Gear lube from them (their item number is 456749 for the case of 12 bottles). You might have been bumped over to the customer center if Debbie couldn't get to the phone it time. If so, it's posible that they just couldn't find it. Try calling again, and ask to talk to Debbie. If you get the customer center, call again in a few minutes. When I talked to her yesterday, she quoted me the exact same price as I paid last year ($169.47 taxes included for a case of 12) Sweet! I'll be ordering a case next week before she puts her order in on thursday.

However, now that you mention a 20L pail for $150, I might have to look into that to see if it's the same stuff. It's a little less convenient than bottles, but a whole lot cheaper! Like you said though, I'd be surprised to see such a price difference between bottles and a pail.

Let me know what you find out on the pails!
I have a diff pump so I don't care if it is in bottles or pails myself.

OK. Just confirmed today. A 19L pail of the same stuff "Mobil 1 synthetic gear lube LS 75W90" is $242 taxes in, so $12.74 per liter including tax.

The case of twelve 0.95 liter bottles is $169.47 taxes in, so $14.87 per liter including tax.

So this begs the question......which are you going to get?
