maxed out rear suspension
i just installed my lift the other day and in the rear i put in an AAL. its all good except that the rear suspension goes up so fast it makes a noise like a thunp (not loud, i think it might be made louder because of my toolbox) is that typical of AALs? the ride feels fine, a little stiffer, but not bad... just wonderign if i did something wrong.
thanks... (i tried searching an got things about lifts and AAL vs shackles, but nothing about this post)

like if you step on the bumper or push down hard, in about 1 second its back up (which is fine) but it maxs out and makes a thump noise, like its hitting a stopper, i put in longer read shocks. if its normal im good, if not, then i need to fix it.

yes, the springs will be harder to compress and push back to normal with more force..... i keep tools and other junk in the bed of the truck, and i have an aal... after instal instal i did notice things seem to get louder but you must realize that the truck is now returning back to height with mroe force.... aals dont do anything other than stiffen the suspension for loading applications... when i drive around with a ton of equipment in the back, it drives really smooth.....

Try unbolting the shocks to see if that's the noise.
Try having someone else bounce it so you can be under there and watch and listen.
Other possibilities include the tailgate, the tailgate holders, the spare tire winch thingie, tools loose in the bed...

i did all that and figured out that both shocks are the same length, if i used different shocks would the ride be softer? cuz with no shocks on the truck it was bouncy, not stiff and rediculous

Did you check the shock length? They are supposed to be the same length as each other, but are they long enough that they aren't hitting the end of their travel as the suspension bumps back up?
