i dont agree with that for one reason...people should mind their own business and not mess with others...saying that he asked for TP in his truck is saying a girl who dresses scantily is asking to get raped...no such thing...just because it looks inviting doesnt mean you can invite yourself....in some neighborhoods, people dont lock their doors at night, so does that mean someone should go in and rob everyone? people should just mind their own business but this is the real world and people don't....

Oh the memories!! I used to get the same thing! My mother would break spoons left and right over mine and my brother's butts. Until one day, she couldn't catch us, so she just threw the wooden spoon at us. My Brother picked it up, and tossed it off our back deck into the woods. I think his exact words were....."how do you like that?" Needless to say, that didn't go over well with my dad......

Re re what is happening these days?!

My comment that he asked for ir was an attempt at humour a suggestion that he perhaps had a small part of the blame to share...i was in no way suggesting that I condoned such behavior or the other thing you mentioned. Futhermore if parents today would do their job instead of looking to the state to do it for them it would be safe for our kids to go to school and we could leave our doors unlocked or even open. However we do not live in the 50's anymore but we do live in a time where parents are so busy with there lives that they are too busy to be parents the result....kids who resort to gangs to find the family they need, kids who can't read and get pushed along by an underfunded school system and get frustrated by their failing grades and resort to bullying and or bringing guns to school. Who's to blame? The boomers, the ME generation those self absorbed fools who are in the game for themselves only. If you want someone to blame look to them and their loose parenting. They should remember their JFK, "Do not ask what your country can do for you, ask whatyou can do for your country."
I know this is a little off topic but that return post set me off if i offended anyone I'm sorry but I stand by what i said.

I was playing tennis with some friends, and we found that a bunch of kids (12 to 15 yrs old) were firing water balloons at us. After various threats we chased them, both by car and foot, and finally found their parents. Guess what.... When we confronted their parents, they DISOWNED their kids!!!! It was only when we told them that the Sherrifs department had been notified that they got scared and apologised.

Definately kids are as bad as their parents let them be!

aviator. I didn't mean that you were stating that you condoned that sort of behavior. I was just saying that people these days try to get away with too much and are not considerate of others. I by no means wanted to set you off and if i did, i apologize. I was just stating my opinion and hope we can have more constructive conversations. again i apologize if i offended you in my last post.

I myself am a 16 year old Teenager, and i agree with all that everyone has said. Teenagers these days are out of control, no one is punishing them for anything they do. In school, back in the day, teachers could punish the students if they where bad, now, the only thing they can do is suspend them. What does that teach them, if your bad you get to skip school? Like everyone has said, parents these days are becoming too protective over their children, if they do something bad, the parents just tell them not to do it again, so the child becomes rebelious and keeps doing it because they know they can get away with it and the parents won't do jack about it.

tell it bruthuh tell it! I can remember back in the late 70's standing spread eagle against the wall in the hall and having my teacher use an architects scale (you know those triangle looking rulers) and whacking my hamstrings a couple good times. better bet I didn't shoot spitwads at the blackboard ever again!!! let alone hum a palm load of wet toiletpaper at it, yes, a friend of mine did that right before grabbing one of the erasers and popping the teach in the back of the head with it. those were the good ol' days back in Michigan at the Lutheran school, god I hated that school!

Smile re CLin9383

No Offence taken guy. I was in a mood and it did set me off a little. I was more concerned that folks might have thought i did condone that sort of behavior. sorry i sounded off at you.
Cheers Aviator. here's a thought in some countries with mandatory military service you don't often hear of this kind of behavior maybe we should consider this here...

My mom's wooden spoon had "NO" written on it with a marker. I used to get swatted with that thing all the time. I remember when my mom broke her spoon on my butt, due to my laughing and chanting "that doesn't hurt" it was at that point that she realized I was too big for her to do that stuff anymore.

That's how I operate too... What has been more effective lately is taking things away - favorite toys, privileges, etc. Works great because I have 3 and the 1 being punished sees the other two having fun, and has a total meltdown... It's pretty funny actually.

Three swats? Do you mean 3 good contacts or 3 regardless of the quality of the connection? If I have it in my mind to dish out 3, but I miss - I add a couple for good measure.

You never played in the street growing up? I find that hard to believe. It's not so easy to get the speed limit changed - I've tried in my alley.

This has got to be the most careless, reckless and ridiculous comment I've ever heard. Last time I checked, vehicular manslaughter was a crime. Typically, pedestrians have the right of way (kids playing in the street qualify as pedestrians). If you are driving and hit a kid - regardless of the speed limit or circumstances - you have another thing to worry about besides the legal system - the enraged parent. Can you say Vigilante Justice? I sure as hell can.

My S2000 was paked in my driveway airing out after a good coat of scothchgaurd on the carpets after about two hours inside having a beer I came out to two eggs thrown into the car. They hit the seats and dripped down and ran down into the dash. Four hours of cleaning and I still could'nt get the egg out from the VIN number area.

I found out that it was the fraternity kids around the corner from my house. They found out how much of a mess can be made with a Wrangler and a muddy front yard could do to a yard, house and windows down in a new 3series

Some people in the San Diego area have tried (stupidly) by putting 8.5" x 11" print-outs that say slow down on telephone poles. Of course, nobody looks there and the ink is too faint anyway.
Some other genius thought up of putting signs in front yards. Now where do you think the driver's attention is now? Some people really need to think things through.
Reminds me of some thing they tried to pass last year. Someone wanted to allow segments of highway and freeway be allotted to the families with DUI related deaths so that they can dress up a memorial or something for their loved one. Sounds nice but again, where's the driver's attention now?

I hate to say it but the thread title is true. People (as a whole) are stupid and don't think of the entire picture.
