I got to thinking about how my 4Runner has 150,000 miles and has only had a few things fail.

So, what have you had to replace? These are items that have broken or failed.

So far, here's what I had to replace:
Starter
Spark Plug wires (Borg/Warner wires split after only 3,000 miles)
T-Case front output shaft seal
Swaybar end links
Power steering pump rebuilt
Axle seals

Those are the only things that have broken that I have had to replace. The list gets longer if I include regular maintenace items.

Post up!
hmmm sounds like a 03-04 6.0L PSD.... At least the headgasket hasnt blown, like most of em have....oh wait I better not jinx him We've got an '05 PSD, it's a beast but Im waiting to pop the hood and see the coolant reservior spewing out coolant.....

oil lots of oil
oil filters
spark plugs
idler arm (gotta re-replace it)
shocks
rear axle seal

timing belts
water pump
spark plug wires
distributor cap
rotor
valve cover seals
radiator
thermostat
brakes
tires (4 or 5 sets now)
ALTERNATOR
and a few batteries (look at sig to see why...LOL 8.8kW)

New engine at around 96k miles. The oil rings got lazy and hogged all the oil. They should be friends with Bush.

I backed into a tree at 120k and had to replace the ECU for some reason. I make up for that by keeping the factory brakes for 150k miles.

Talking

On my 1992 pickup with over 300,000 miles I’ve never did what I would call major repairs to it.

I’ve replaced the:
Head gasket x1
Clutch x2 (teaching people to drive a 5 speed can be expensive)
Alternator
and preformed all the regular stuff every some many miles

On my 1995 4Runner that has 230,000+ miles.

I replaced the following after I got it:
Cam and Crank Seals
Timing belt
Rear axle bearing and seals
Pinion seal
It needs the head gaskets replaced
CV-axle
Rotors and brake pads

will be replacing the engine in a couple of days.
since i'm on the subject of engines, what would you guys choose from these options:

1) $1595 including installation, with $90 towing fee and 2-3 day turnaround time and a 2 year warranty.

OR

2) $1580 w/ $600 labor charge, free towing, 7-9 day turnaround time cuz theyre busy and a 5 year unlimited warranty.

I'll get back to you on this one. I'm still ordering parts and receiving parts after my timing chain broke.

Other than general maintenance, i've:
replaced all gaskets from the head up
had the head machined(it got warped) (still trying to figure out how that happened)
had the intake manifold machined(it got warped too)
new timing chain
new coil
new bed
new stereo(my pioneer that was to go in it was confiscated-"read stolen" by my gangsta wannabe punk good for nothing brother.

other than that just regular maintanence.

The only high dollar item I've gone through is a transmission. The synchros went bad in my 5 speed at about 150K miles. Put in a rebuilt Marlin transmission and had no more problems.

Otherwise just normal stuff for a ten year old 4Runner with 183K miles on it:
Water pump at 150K miles
Rear axle seals and front wheel bearings at 115K miles
Tie rod ends and ball joints at 115K miles.
Shocks a couple of times
Brake pads a bunch of times
Spark plugs a bunch of times
Radiator at 130K miles (hoses twice).
Power Steering pump at 170K miles.
Three timing belts and of course the regular belts.
Two clutches
Front T-Case seal

The front bushings in the a-arms are going. That'll be my next project. I hear it's a pain!

Rear window motor,Exhaust, O2 sensor, Fuel filler tube (was leaking) Plug wires,Cap & Rotor, Driverside CV axle, Driverside inner door handle, 2 U-joints, battery & terminals, too many antennas to count, and the big one....... drumroll please......... The A340H tranny... That one hurt....

As for what needs to be fixed - passanger side calliper, both pinion seals, rear tailgate (due to rust) drivers side fender and drivers door (combo rust/trail damage) plastic fan, swaybar end links, passenger side cv-boot or axle (depending on how long it takes to get around to it) Rad (she's getting a little thin), fan, rear heater lines, rear coils (saggy ass), driverside lower balljoint... And my next one...... Speedo cable (before I get a ticket for speeding) Probably more, but I cannot think of any right now...
