aright i looked into lifting my 96 2wd sr5 and decided against it. I know that most people here dont like the look of a lowered 4runner but its what I've decided to do..for now atleast . I searched the forums for help on parts to make it handle better but nothin came up. Does anyone know what parts are out there for handling and also for lowering the 4runner 3+ inches. I wanna take turns pretty quickly

 

It's still an SUV..you'll never be able to turn "quickly". Get some Addco Sway bars and poly bushings all around first.

well unless you're ready to spend a lot of money for the suspension kit from shuei which you can order through jasonB here on the forum, thats probably going to be the only way you'll get a 3" drop. I opted to cut my stock springs for a good drop. with the cuts springs it rode so ˟˟˟˟ty i ended up buying the performance products 1" lowerings springs for the 4wd 4runner and new bilsteins shocks. It rides pretty good, but it didnt look like it lowered it at all. i went ahead and cut 2 coils off the pp springs and it probably drop 1" now, still rides just like it did stock. im probably going to end up adding the sway bars as well. if you want a 3" i still have the stock springs i cut.

i was going to lower my truck 1 inch with bilsteins and PP lowering springs... lowering springs for sale now. pretty sure they r going to stop producing them.

 

What kinda handling? Staying stiff while on a freeway overpass at 50 or 60 mph or trying to accelerate through a tight turn? Its an SUV with a higher center of balance, im not sure you'll get decent handling? I have owned lowered toyota cars for the last 4 years.. I dont know a ton about lowering SUV's though, just seems like you'd want to lower one for cruisin...

 

Whats listed here is going to be your best bet if you want to go lower...

After lifting my 98 with HD OME coils and HD Bilstein shocks that thing would handle like no other and it looked great IMHO. Yes, not ideal and you have to respect driving a lifted vehicle but I used to drive a crazy road to work every day (130 turns in 8mi) and it was not a chore. If thats not for you though I'd get the PP springs listed above with some bilstein shocks and the adco swaybars as a start. The other main thing to help handling, stopping, everything is a nice set of tires. Again, might not totally be what your looking for but the best handling truck tires I have ever used are the Bridgestone REVOs. That was a while ago, so I don't know much about the current offerings but they sure stuck like glue. I'm going to be in the market here within a month so I'm going to start researching now myself...
