loud creaking noises when turning.

Question loud creaking noises when turning.

steering wheel on full lock, truck stationary, give her gas and loud creaking noises eminate from the front. usually happens when getting out of parking spaces. what should i check?

Looks like your cv joint is going out. Try visually check and see if the cv boot is torned. Normally you will see lot os grease around it is it is torned. Sometimes the cv joint can go bad even the boot is still in good condition. Hope this help

you may be experiencing the creaking/groaning sound from the steering stops. there are bolts on either side that have a plastic cap on them that eventually wear away, when they do, the bolt face rubs on the stop causing the creaking sound. take a look behind the front wheels and you should see the bolts, the face should have a bit of wear on it and maybe even the remnants of the placstic caps. grease them up on a regular basis and that should cut down the noise.

Yep, its what Lee said... thats what I always do, just throw some grease on them and you'll be good to go.

Lee is right. The key is "full crank". Just dab some grease on them and they will be good for about 3-6 months depending on season.

I had the same problem. So my mechanic replaced them since he noticed they had completely worn through the plastic stoppers.
