workin on the BJ's

well i have the ole 94 SR5 up in the air and i'm doing the balljoints. this is my 1st truck experience, i have done you name it on cars but torsion bars.. 4wd all new stuff to me.

so i get all the stuff around them off holy crap i am sure those bolts have never been off before. and then i see the upper control arm is stopping me from getting the upper out. so after a lot of pursuading from a pry bar i got it out and the lower was a breeze then. i had an ole crappy tool that lifts the lower up an out but i was about a 1/2" short in thread (murphys law). i'm just wondering if i really have to mess with the torsion bars to get it all back together. and if so whats the best way. my friggin haynes manual is as good as crap paper on this part.
