good luck. Bikes4miles has them on his, but they are really hard to find. they will come up on ebay every once and a while but i've been told they go for like $200+. you might want to try painting them all red if you're trying to get rid of the ugly orange.

Thanks for the quick response, Chris, and the link, but I am looking for lights with clear lense covers and red lights inside w/chrome backrounds. Found lots of them at Altezza for 89-95 Toyota pickups. They look the same as 4runner. Does anybody know if they will fit?

Ive been looking for the same 2nd gen Runner clear tail lights for the last month but nobody has/makes them
I guess at one time they were available but now there not. It seems to me if somebody started making them again they'd sell more than a crack dealer does in the ghetto streets of Los Angeles...

(eBay only has the front clear corners/bumpers which i already bought)

^ Yes, i did and they do not have them for a 2nd generation 4Runner...if you read the details, they only sell them for pickups and 3rd gen 4Runners.

If anybody knows who use to make them or who use to sell them please post the information here.

Mine were off ebay in 2002 when they were very available and only sold for $40-$70! The bulbs they came with really sucked so most guys just ran them for a month or two, got a tickett, and threw them away or something. That's how I got mine, my friend gave them to me cus the bulbs burned off. I have since ran them with som better bulbs for 3 years without being pulled over. At any rate, they pop up on ebay once in a very great while and they sell for well over $200.

there IS a difference between 2nd and 3rd gen tail lights. 2nd gens have the reverse lights in the tailgate not on the tail light were as the 3rd gens are all in tails (break, turn, reverse)

Some european 4Runners have the reverse lights in the taillights.

Mine have like that, and where you've the reverse light I've the fog light. Dunno in the States but here is mandatory to have at least one rear fog light from stock.

I haven't found closer pics, I'm not at home and those were of my custom window tint hehe.

David

PS: I've noticed just now that your bumpers haven't reflectors. Here it's also mandatory to have a pair of red reflectors in the back.

We aren't required to have rear fogs here. I HATE it when people with Audi's or Merc's use their rear fogs when it's perfectly clear out, so it looks like they're just riding their brakes the whole time...

I'm searching for those Altezza's for a while but no luck either.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but 3 gen 4R lights are identical to 2 gen 4R lights, except for the reverse light?
So they should fit but require some wiring mods? And losing my OEM reverse light?
If anyone can confirm this I will order a set of those 3 gen lights next week.

Hey 4runner4ever, let me know if you do it!

[hijack on]

I'm still dreaming with a SAS to my 4Runner but here in Europe... Spanish ITV (Tech inspection) suck!

2nd and 3rd Gen taillights are NOT the same. The will not fit in the spot for the lights, and are not interchangeable, reverse lights or anything.

Yea, the are all diferent. I once saw some Altezza's that were chrome and red for a 2nd gen 4runner online in 2002 and they were about $200 so I didn't jump on them. Then a few moths later they were gone. Never seen them in real life.

Not all the second gens have the revers lite in the tal gate......all of the gen2s in Japan that have the factory rear mount spare tire carrier have the rev lite in with the rest of the lights......
