Looking for a CB antena mount

I am looking for an antena mount that I can put on the back bumper of my Tacoma. Does such a thing exist? Has anyone seen one that mounts off to the side so that my tailgate clears it. I don't want to mount the antena up front on the hood.

I think I talked my brother into getting me the Cobra 75WX ST for my birthday. I am going to need Mike for a Firestick and the mount for the rear bumper. Is there anything else that I will need to complete the install?

Thanks for the help.

Tomus,

As much as I'd like to mount on the rear bumper (I like the clean look), I read that link that someone wrote who said that its not a good location for the antenna. I'll probably mount it like HBoss did w/ a quick disconnect on the inside of the hood sill.

Oh, I ordered my Cobra 75 and firestik 2 from Mike. I haven't rec'd it but he's a really nice guy.

Bob check out my 94 album i have a pic of my mount. Its not the best but it works really well. Get a roof rack/mirror mount and mount to the wall of the chrome. Mine tuned really well there.

Yeah, looks great there. I believe Robinhood made a very similar mount but he custom-fab'd some parts. However, the article (I'm too lazy to search for it) mentioned that the best place is drilled smack dab in the center of the roof (no way I'd do that), drilled into the rear quarter panel, or mounted on the inside hood sill (HBoss style).

That said, how is your reception mounted on the back there? Have you tried any other locations besides that and compared?

Now I know I am being picky but, I am not a big fan of blasting holes in any part of the truck. Will I be able to mount a firestick with out drilling or any permanent damage?

Yeah, the back bumper is the worst place for a CB antenna. BUT...it seems to work fine for me. I haven't even tuned it yet since I don't have a tuner. I know it'll work better if I tune it, but it works fine for listening to the truckers and people on the trail. Everything comes in much better one I arbitrarily turned the tuning screw to the middle somewhere.

Noel, you also have the option of mounting it on the front of your bed (on the bed side, not the cab side). Since you have a spray on liner you can drill into the front of the bed (through the sheetmetal) and mount it there. If you ever take off the antenna you can just have them patch the holes with bedliner. The holes through the sheetmetal will be hidden by the cab.

If you have a tool box back there, you can also mount it there.

Here you go: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/show...threadid=2679&

you still have to drill though. Try to look around underneath the bumper and find some existing holes or something you don't mind drilling into.

Thanks Steve. I just sent a PM to Mike to see if he had any suggestions. I will probably be buying everything from him anyway. Gotta do business with the Yotatech family ya know.
