Have an 89 runner on 35s. strictly mud/sand use. any suggestions on a rear locker. realiability, affordability, easy install. thanks

 

look into the aussie locker... for all out strength a detroit locker will outlast any other axle part, but the lunchbox lockers are an easy drop in install.... the detroit is a full carrier replacemetn and requires the gears be re-set up.....

if its jsut an offroad rig, you might want too look into a min or full spool (but again will need gears setup) or a lunchbox locker liek the aussie locker or similar for the easiest installs

It locks the axles togther alowing nothing to turn at different speeds. It is also the cheapest because it is a simple hunk of metal.(no turning parts)

 

I gots a detroit e-z locker. $189, rarely notice it (unless im doing wicked sweet dohnuts in the snow). easy install.

 

I would be cautious with mini spools. From what I have heard they are very weak and break easily. There are 2 kinds of people with mini-spools, those who have broken them, and those who will. Do a search on pirate4x4 about them, youll see.

 

I got a Detroit EZ-Locker, it only cost about $220, and it was super easy to install (hence the name I assume). I would highly recommend it it has worked perfectly in all situations for me.
