Locker Actuator Guard

Just wondering what everyones experience and opinion of the guards for the locker actuator are? I know that it is probably pretty rare to hit this, unless you are seriously rockcrawling, but do they work and are they worth it? Also, do they cause more build up of material that could deteriorate the actuator housing? Thanks for the advice.

I've got one, I figured it was cheap insurance for a costly part/repair. I haven't had any "build up" because it was there, plus I don't go into mud very often.
