Im not sure about a factory roll bar but i have a smittybuilt on my truck and man is that thing solid. But what is it that you are looking for? Are you looking for a roll bar or a light bar, there is a difference. Rollbar = some protection if you roll, light bar = zero protection if you role. just my $.02

Far as I've seen lately, Smittybilt is the only company still making true welded roll bars, (and the shipping cost is staggering.) There are quite a few making bolt together bars (light bars only...)

a lightbar or a roll cage... lots of people think they are the same? one is rollover protection, one is a gutter or roof mounted bar that holds lights....

I've got a roll bar sitting in my garage right now. It isn't factory - not sure who made it. It's made of 3" dia. tubular steel, and it *supposedly* fits on an 84-88 shortbed std cab pickup. I've got no use for it, since my truck's an '89. I can get some pics and dimensions if you are interested.

jimabena - they're referring to the fully welded heavy duty rollbar as opposed the bolt together light gauge decoarative simulated roll bar that will do nearly nothing for you if you roll over... Many companies back in the 80s started calling them sport bars or light bars to avoid the implication indicated by the term roll bar that they would help you if you flip...

Just so we're all on the same page:

This is the 'roll bar' I have. It's a bolt together five piece setup, more for mounting lights than protection. Just like Flamedx4 said, I wouldn't put any faith in the thing in the event of a rollover, but if you're looking to mount some lights at a decent height it'll to the job.
