Lifter tick
I have a 99 4runner with about 115K on the clock. I have had a lot fo tranny problems but they were finally fixed besides a little shake when starting out in 1st gear. Diag is the clutch plate was not machined after new clutch went in. I ahve been dealing with this for about 65k so not a big deal. Took it over to AAMCO and they said not worry about it until the clutch starts to slip.
So onto to my newest problem. I have a real bad lifter tick. Not sure what side of the motor but I am assuming a rebuild may be in order. I ahve gone to Mobil 1 Synthetic Oil plus some slick 50 but the noise is still there.
My question: Is a rebuild needeD? If so should I do cams and timing as well?
Thanks and I am glad to see this forum is still alive and kickin.
