Well, the lift is almost complete. I've just got the limiting straps and panhard drop bracket to weld on, and I'll be finished with it. I thought it would be cool to compare what my stock 1998 looks like in comparison to my 1997 that has a 1" body lift and 2"/2.5" suspension lift. I have to say that the ride is much better than stock with the new OME N86/N91S shocks. The bumps that I would normally feel in the road are almost non-existent. I'm very impressed! I can't wait to go off-roading this Saturday.

when do the sliders go on? I thought you ordered a TJM awhile back? maybe I'm thinking wrong.

 

Rock on! I actually thought the ride was not as smooth with the OME's as with the stock shocks/springs. I can feel the road a lot more but the big bumps aren't as noticable (like speedbumps). I have a 2001 though, would that make a difference? Oh, and next time you go over a speed bump or pull out of a driveway with a curb, roll your windows down and listen -- you'll hear the shocks!

My shocks might have been going, with 100K miles on them. All I know is the ride is much smoother and not as much jarring as before. I like it!

yea it looks really good man! It's nice to have a mini-runner handy for comparison pics. I found some new runners to park next to at work and they don't seem to move when I do. hehe.

looks real good though, I especially like the sparkles in the 5th picture.

Don't be like me Chris and forget to clean the undercarriage under the body...between the front and back tires...because now you can see it since you are up in the air now. I washed my rig and my wife came out and goes, aren't you going to clean that...pointing to the undercarriage between the tires...:pat:

I'm stupid, but what does chuffed mean?

I did the fender trimming while I had just the body lift on to make sure I totally cured the rubbing, which I did. So, by doing what I did for the fender trimming, you don't even need more than a 1" body lift to prevent rubbing, or so I thought.

Now, when I say I'm not rubbing, I'm not rubbing the fenders or anywhere else, but one place. I'm actually rubbing the insides of the tires on the frame at full lock each way. There's nothing I can do for this, but I was just wondering who else is experiencing this?

Edit: I'm probably not even rubbing on the frame being lift now, but when the suspension is compressed, it will rub. That's why I did all the fender trimming. It's not that you'll rub under normal driving, but rather when I have the suspension stuffed is when it would have rubbed. I also had to trim the inside kick panels, because when I hammered the fenderwell body it kicked them out of place.

Sweet man! I wish I would have had the money for the SAW's, and ended up spending a lot more money than I wanted anyway when I went ahead and bought the shocks. Oh well, because the ride is much better than stock.

yea there are really only 3 reasons I plan on going with the SAWS:

1) I plan on putting a TJM-15
2) Ride quality
3) Don't want to mess with a spring compressor

Other than that....I don't really know why I'm spending the extra 400 bucks haha

 

Just not having to mess with a spring compressor is worth it to me. This is the second time using my spring compressor and I still hate it. The adjustability is nice too!

wait until you add a TJM or ARB front bumper. You'll then expose the whole front end and you'll see mud and tall grass in the suspension and the cv's. but it still looks cool. I suppose you could slap on some shackle hangers and paint the shackles orange to draw the attention away from the dirtiness. I like it better dirty though, hehe. I have to break out the McGuire's to give it a good wax job though since the rain water isn't beading up anymore.

 

I think you'll need one when you rebuild them.

 

I thought that sound was "VVVVVUTTTTT VVVVVUUUTTTTT VVVUUUUTTT." with a "squishing" sound mixed in from the celulite being displaced.
