Chris, your 4Runner appreciates you letting it stretch its legs. Its funny how now regular 4Runners almost look lowered.

 

That's true Tom! It actually looks like my 1998 is a lowered 4runner when sitting right next to it. I like the ride and lift height a lot. I'm going wheeling tomorrow on some of the same trails I did while I just had the 1" body lift on it, so I'm hoping the added clearance will help on the steep water breaks. We'll see!

don't forget to get some full flex shots and stuff. I haven't put my limitting straps on, 1 because I haven't had time, and 2 because last time I fully flexed and got out and checked it out it didn't seem to need it. I will eventually slap them on though. you haven't gotten the panhard drop bracket put on yet either eh? watch out stuffing the rear tires if you haven't (they are 285's right?)...

 

Yeah, their 285's, and I'm going to check the stuffing later today to make sure I'll be okay tomorrow when I go wheeling.

i think everyone with 285s on the stock wheels rubs the frame at full lock. the 2 most common ways to fix are:

1) ATS upper control arms, this will push out your tires just enough to stop rubbing.

2) wheels with less backspacing.

it could also be your alignment thats off, give your suspension some time to settle and then get an alignment from a reputable 4WD shop who knows the IFS geometry and knows how to manipulate it. (the rubbing might stop after the alignment, but i doubt it).

 

I just got the alignment done, and it's still rubbing. What about wheel spacers? Has anyone used them to get rid of the rubbing on the frame?

I was talking about the rear at full stuff, not the front. The panhard bracket will prevent this in back.

A side note, ATS is no longer with us, the only place I know of now to get new a-arms is Total Chaos Fab.

 

I know we were talking about the rear, and ho the panhard drop bracket cures that, but then we started talking about the fronts too.

By the way, I'm working on a way to disconnect (actually let it move more) the rear swaybar, because I noticed yesterday, I couldn't get it to completely stuff the rear wheel.
