Just a heads up for everyone, the apc bulbs (ive been through 3 sets) do not have the correct resistance and are pretty shoddy, had to wiggle them to get them to work ect.

After looking around some I found some nice led's which had 6 outward facing leds to have a nice beam pattern, instead of straight back. at autolumination.com

I've ordered other bulbs (interior, corners, even put a 74 blue led in my dash to make my a/c fan gauges match closely to the reverse indiglo gauges I have) They ship pretty quick, are decently priced too.

Leds and Stealth Bulbs?

My 2 Cents: I had a pair of the 7440s APC made that were led. They gave the cleared out look but were not totally invisible in the lense and fit poorly. I put stealth bulbs in the front <stealthauto.com> and preordered 7440s which are a silver coated bulb which appear to be great (Like silvervisions if you have seen them.)

The APCs I picked up at the sema show last year. Install in the rear was easy in my 1999 Limited. Fronts were a bit of a chore.

I'm looking into this too... anyone got pics yet? I've just got stock tails so don't know if it's worth it.

Also found an easy page for finding Sylvania bulb numbers, if anyone's interested:

This would be a bigger job to do but would be so much better than the replacement bulbs...

Why not drill whatever number of 5mm holes in the back of the taillight housing and epoxy in 12v 5mm LED bulbs, you could use red or clear depending on the type of tail lights you have.
Then solder fly leads to each one and join to the existing wiring (after checking the polarity!)
There is a little restistor? that you can get to join across the + and - of the stock wiring to eliminate the problems with the continous circuit.

You could have say 5 regular LEDs for your tail light and maybe 10 super bright for the brake lights.

You could even have clear ones for the reverse and amber for the indicator (oh yeah, you guys have red indicators, we use amber in Ireland)

A big project no doubt, but the results would be awesome...

I'll put it on my to do list!

I have clear tails so I need red bulbs but I didn't have good luck with the LED bulbs. They don't shine light into the reflector of the taillight resulting in oveal reduction in viability for daytime driving. They just produce very bright spots instead of lighting up the lense. I peasonally didn't think they were safe so I went to a xenon red bulb (triditional style) I also switched to mirored amber bulbs and have been real happy with them Check my site for details.

I would recommend bulbs like these. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1157-...8746QQtcZphoto http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/LED-1...5873QQtcZphotoThey are SMT LEDs and aren't quite class II LEDs, but they are a lot brighter than the class I 5mm LEDs that you find on most of these turn signals. Also, i have different units, but same LEDs on my truck, and they are BRIGHT, surprisingly. Also, i don't have the stock tailights anymore on my truck, but i do have LEDs, and they are the same emitters on my tailights as the ones in those links.
