Hi. I have purchased an 03 4Runner Limited V6 4x2 about a month ago and have noticed that my driver side leather is getting slightly stained from using black jeans.

What type of care should I use to prevent from this type of stains? (other than from no using black jeans or any pants at all). BTW mine are tan leather.

most folks here w/ leather are pretty partial to a brand called "lexol". it can be found in most autoparts stores.

I never tried lexol. But I have katzskin leather, and once a month I apply Maguires Leather treatment ($4 for a pretty big bottle). Keeps it clean, and soft. I get those same black stains on my seat too.

 

I just got a used Honda Accord for my g/f and have been detailing it. The interior is all Classic Soft Trim leather. It has some marks, dirt and hardening of the leather. There was also "flaking" of the leather on top of the rear seats where the sun constantly hit it.

I used some Blue Magic Cleaner & Leather conditioner. It got some of the marks out and generally did a good job.

I wanted to get the leather clean and soft so I went at some areas with gentle saddle soap (test for colorfastness) and then used Mink Oil leather conditioner.

The Mink Oil softened up the leather and brought back alot of the suppleness. The "flaking" area looks much better and is no longer flaky/dry.
Mink Oil also waterproofs and generally protects the leather well.

However, on light colored leathers (like a tan color) Mink Oil *might* darken the leather so it might not be ideal for lighter colors.

Had the exact same problem, I used a spray bottle filled with water and a terry cloth towel, seat came out looking brand new, just wet it down then rub/wipe down

 

On my leather stuffs i use a combo of 1 part woolite to 6 parts water in a spraybottle -- works wonders for cleaning at least. Not sure about the conditioning but it seems to keep it supple and nice looking.

Try it for cleaning at least!
