They just said that it wasn't today and they even looked on the website to confirm. I asked if they knew when it might be and of course they didn't. I'll check the clearance and definitly switch if there's room. As for my oil question I should mention my runner is a second vehicle for me so it only used on weekends and trips etc.
Thanks,

I printed off the above pic and took it to the Soldotna Napa Store (The Kenai one needs to be torched...) and I picked up the Napa Gold 1516. I had him look up the Napa Gold equivalent of the middle filter (mid sized filter). It's a 1348. Just for the heck of it I asked for the filter for ours (the smallest one). He said it's still 1348. I didn't see how tall it was, but just looking at the box it looks like it's the same size as the short one.
And yes, the 1516 fits in my truck. Like mentioned before, there is a rubber boot that is in the way a bit but it moves out of the way to get the filter screwed on. Now I'm hoping my sterring bushing kit makes it in today before I put the skid plate back on. Road trip tomorrow.

make sure you check your oil level the next morning after the oil change. i always found i need to top off the oil after switching to bigger filter. 5.5qt when doing the oil change, another half qt. next day, total of 6 qt.

thanks man, been checking that frequently. I have always had to put in 6 quarts before with the 1348, so I bought an extra quart while I was there. Thinking bigger filter-might need some more oil. its between both dots on the stick with six quarts.

Just wanted to throw an update of information here. The Amsoil EaO oil filters are no longer recommended for Toyota engines: AMSOIL.com - EaO13, EaO09, EaO10 and EaO57 Change Intervals. I just recently removed my Ea057 and replaced it with the stock size Wix, although I might have been able to wait until I had more mileage on my oil change to do so. I just happened to Google for "larger capacity oil filter toyota 3.4 V6" or something like that and found this page and decided to register on here so I could post this info for you guys. Glad I found this as well as the info on the larger filter. That'll be in the works for my next filter and oil changes

I just think there is a reason why our 5vz engines call for the g1 or the d1 filter. I don't know why, but I just stick with what Toyota designed it for. I use the G1 or the D1 (same thing). I have used the D3 when I have run out of the G1 or the D1 with no adverse side effects, but setting that aside, I just get the G1 or the D1 still. I still have to fill my engine with 6 qts of oil too.

I have found the Purolator PL 20195 works well. Filters like a champ. It is the same size as the NAPA Gold 1516 (identical to the Wix 51516). Two can be purchased from Amazon for under $10 with free shipping. The K&N HP-2009and the Bosch 3330 will also work. It requires a 1/4 of a qt of extra oil for me to use the larger filter

Instead of buying a bigger filter that doesn't meet the same specs as the specified one, buy a better filter. Read this http://www.300cforums.com/forums/gen...dissected.html The Purolator Pure one and the Bosch look like they have the most filtera area and good parts.

Re-read my post, the information on the Amsoil site is linked. Apparently, the filter filters so well, that it causes low oil pressure and sets off the oil pressure warning alarm or something (I'd have to re-read the information) There is no Amsoil-made filter for the 5VZFE engine, however, I think you might be able to get one of the dual-filtration setups with pre-lube pump for it. They do sell another brand filter through the Amsoil online store, but I think you wind up doing a complete oil change more often. I'm currently at somewhere between 7 and 10k miles since the last full oil change of Amsoil and I had swapped in a stock-size Wix when I found out the Ea057s were no longer recommended. You could always push your luck with a once-a-year oil change and see if you ever get the low oil pressure warning alarm and let us know! Sorry it took so long to reply, I haven't been on here to dig through any useful information since I posted up...

You are fine to run them, they just need to be changed more frequently than 25K miles.. Say 7,500 to 10K miles at most.
