Has anybody tried those KC Back-Up Lights at Performance Products?

I basically have the 5x7 equivalent and work very well. I would have to think the 2x6's would be similar and should work great. I can't speak to the wiring as I didn't do mine.

50W each easily upgrade-able to 100W each.
All the parts should cost you no more than $20 for the 50W version at NAPA.

You could also try a local offroad shop if you got one... the local one here http://www.offroadwarehouse.com sells round and rectangular lights for around $12 each.

 

Do the lights from NAPA have all the wiring and instructions and junk?

No, just the lights but Corey's write-up is pretty well detailed.
That was my first serious mod and remains to be one of my favorites

 

I bought the KC back - up light package for my T100 when I had it. Not from Performance Products, but locally. The cost was about the same maybe a couple of dollars cheaper, and I didn't have to wait for them to come.

They were super easy to install, it took about an hour, and I am not even that good at electrical.

Add to that it was probably one of the best mods I made to that truck, especially since I had a shell on it also. They really improved my backing ability.

I just got the cheapest lights I could find and that was some walmart fog lights for $14 for 2. It's not like you need expensive special purpose lights for backing up. If I were looking for driving lights or something, then yes, I would spend more money for good ones, but for backing up?

My walmarts are 55 watts each and make a nice wide beam that light up a pretty big area around the rear. It comes with wire and a switch, but I rewired it using a relay and a smaller 3 way switch. I can set them to be off, on, or come on automatically when I shift into reverse. I even wired up a little red LED light to come on when they are on. Search for a wiring diagram 'cause I know it's been posted before.

 

Awesome man, I will go to Wal-Mart and look for some...what size were the ones you got? I will probably get some rectangular ones so it will look a little bit better.

When wiring the lights where should I run the wire inside of the car without it leaking? Any ideas?

 

I got these little oval ones, probably only 2 inches across. I do have to say that the paint on the housing is starting to chip off allowing it to rust, but I figure I can just paint them again later. And also, since the ones I got are fog lights, the light has a little yellow tinge to them. They've got other housing shapes that are white though. Tractor supply usually has cheap lights too.

 

I just got some cheap driving lights from Walmart a few weeks ago to use as back-up lights. They were just $15, but do their job well. They're in rectangular housings and came with 55 watt bulbs. They're not super bright but definitely make a big difference in an un-lit area at nite. I'll snap some pictures tonite or tomorrow and post them.

 

There are rubber plugs underneath the cab that are about an inch in diameter. When I wired my lights, I poked through one of those plugs. I used the one underneath my drivers seat. If you do that, it wouldn't hurt to seal it back up with some silicone afterwards.
