Just bought 92 truck, interior question

Hello all, new to the site, looks like a great place to be. I just bought a 92 Pickup 4x4 V6 ex-cab with everything just about the way I wanted except for the interior color, which is blue. I prefer gray and as I searched the site the common way to change the color seems to be dye and paint. This seems a little drastic to me so I am pondering finding a donor vehicle with gray and swapping out the dash and door covers. The carpet I would just replace and the seats will be swapped with supra seats or something equivalent. Am I nuts or wouldn't this be easier since your going to have to disassemble the interior anyway to paint it (at least not redneck sytle )

Yeah I'm not a big fan of the blue. Sounds like you have the right idea...just find a donor vehicle and rob the interior parts off of it. Or, you could search on Ebay and piece it all together, which may take some work. The dye and paint method may work, but it will probably looked a little rigged, and not turn out so great. Never tried it though. Whichever direction you decide to go, good luck with it!

Painting works fine, but it is a lot of work, and it MUST be done right to be durable. Mine was blue too...

you could get good results either way. just depends on how hard you work to get there. I have seen some interior painting that looked like it came new from the factory. then again the guy that did it was a complete car detailing nut. I will see if I can get in contact with him to get some suggestions.

good luck.

I discovered a third option:

Sell the truck I just bought for more money that I bought it for and buy another that is in better condition and has a gray interior. I found this way to have very good results and looks completely stock....
