Yeah that's what I meant, Bob had in his write-up to cut the 90 deg elbow down to about a 45 deg elbow. Maybe I'll look for a straight tube like the 7th injector kit and let all the air come from the fender well. Not sure how cool that's going to be, but I guess it will be better than the engine bay air.

Yeah, my thinking as well. In retrospect, I wish I would have added some type of extension that actually went into the fender instead of just facing it. Of course, who really knows how much HP that would be worth, if any.

Mark and I have already discussed data-logging intake air temps for various configurations. I guess the ECU monitors IAT anyway, it's just a matter of "catching" the signal, deciphering it, then plotting it in a spreadsheet or similar. That would be cool.

Blue? No, the thing we are talking about is black...at least on all the 5VZ's I have owned. What's this blue thing you are talking about?

Dood... you're a hair out of sync. In the 7th install instructions they show a blue piece of silicone/foam/something that's being used to replace the elbow.

OK, got it. So it sounds like this blue piece is essentially doing what Dale and I have been thinking; extension of the airbox piece into the fender. Cool. I wonder if TRD got the elbow mod idea from gadget (along with the Free FMU mod)?
