Wink Interior lights 86 yota

Am i killing you with questions yet?
what sort of interior lights should i have on this 86 truck? the instrument lights are the only ones that are on now, but i wanted to know if the heater control should light up and if i should have a courtesy light when opening the door.
i havent had a chance yet to troubleshoot anything yet. just wanted to check with the pros

thanx ya'll

You should have lights at your heater controls and a courtesy (above your mirror) light. You probably have a 3 position switch on your courtesy light that is: up=on all the time, middle=off all the time, and down=on when door is open. I have several of the mid-80's trucks and it seems the "on with door open" light doesn't work on a lot of them.. Maybe a bad switch in the door? I think the SR5's of this era also have map lights up by the mirror also.

I think you should, my 91 lights up, and it is like the most basic model.

Yes. If your dash light/instrument panels lights are working it's probably not a bad fuse, maybe a bad bulb/LED or loose connection to your heat/fan panel.

There are no lights on the climate control sliders just on the faceplate. This light is problematic with many trucks and 4Runners of the late 80's. Neither of mine have worked for years.

Yea, mine worked intermittently (light would go off when I slid a knob) about until about a week ago when they just stopped working.

I'm going to do the blue dash lights mod, so I'm not too worried about it.

If you can't get the dome light to work with the door someone may have cut the door switch wire to kill the annoying key in/door open buzzer. I did and lost door/ dome on the drivers side. Right side switch will light it though.

The climate pannel lights on my girlfriends 87 corolla always need a little knock to light up...

I just lost my dome light recently... not the fuse, door switches or the bulb, does anyone know where to look?

Bingo! You just cured 2 of my trucks with this info. I had noticed that the passenger side door switch worked but not the drivers. Thankee, thankee!
