I need front shocks and a new U joint to pass inspection. he wants 500 bucks is that fair? thanks

 

Seems a bit high to me if he is throwing some cheapie shocks on there. Does that include the parts too?

You can do the work yourself and save a bit of money.

 

thats real high, you can take the u-joint w/ yoke to a shop and have them press it out and re-install for about $25, and the shock are easy

 

You can get decent shocks for $40 a piece and change them yourself. real easy. Sounds like he is trying to rip you off. By the way, what vehicle to you have? If you are uncomfortable with doing work yourself, then call around.
