Ignition Coil Comparison

Ignition Coil Comparison
I was having issues with my CEL coming on and a rough idle when the truck had been sitting out over night, in the rain, or high humidity. After 5 minutes of idle, it would run fine. I did my research on here, and found others that had the same problems, and found it to be an ignition coil. I managed to get the light this morning, so I took it to AutoZone to put the reader on it. It came back with a misfire on cylinder #6. I hadn't replaced the plugs and wires since I got it back in early 2005, so I figured I would replace wires, plugs and the cylinder #3 ignition coil (#3 coil pack feeds cylinder #6).
Bought NGK Iridium IX plugs, as it was about the best choice from what they had in stock. Also got a Bosch plug wireset. I'm not a huge fan of Bosch, but they should work. And finally, a Duralast ignition coil.
After pulling the coil off of cylinder #3, I could certainly tell there was something different about this one. It did not look good at all. Here's a comparison photo showing a good coil out of cylinder #5 on the left versus the bad coil out of cylinder #3 on the right:

I'm sure many of you have seen or dealt with this before, and I'm glad I got the information I did off of here. I didn't see any photos, however, so this may help some others that come looking for help. Here's one more photo showing a good coil on the left, bad coil in the middle, and brand new coil on the right. Thanks for all the help everyone!

It was a lot cheaper than I was finding from some other online places, $68.00. Here is the link:

I went out to start the truck this morning, as there was a lot of dew and fog. The truck fired right up, and no stumbling, no CEL, just smooth running.
Make sure you reference the chart in the third post at this link. This is the correct cylinder numbering. The little chart to the left of the diagram of the engine shows the wireset order. 2-5, 3-6, 1-4.

Same problem with rough acceleration and smooth idle when humid
Sorry to open this up after such a long time, but I had the same problem with rough acceleration and smooth idle only when humid in my 96 4runner. I checked all the ignition coils and one seemed intermittant and I'll replace it. However my question is this: all of my spark plugs were not torques and were only barly finger tight... there was obviously loss of compression due to this and all the coils and spark plug wires look like the picture in this thread. I really dont want to spend the $300 ($80*3+60) for 3 new ignition coils and a cable set. Bottom line is if it tests out (resistance-wise) it should be fine right? And it does not matter much how it looks? Can I clean it with something or should that not be done in the enclosed area by the spark plugs? I've been getting 16mpg for a while now instead of the 21mpg like I used to get; I want to fix this but dont want to be shot-gunning parts in when I could be replacing other stuff that might help more.

Yes if the resistance is good then it should be fine, provided that you are using Di-electric grease and the proper plugs for these trucks.. Dual ground strap.... NGK or Denso in a 5 heat range BKR5ET
