I do a search before asking and i did'nt find very explicit answer to my problem.

My 91 22re 4runner idle erratically(sorry for my bad english ,i usually talk french).

it's idle up and down 700-800-700-800......

very embarassing on a red light.

when i push brake the problem it's even worse.

vaccum problem,??

injection??

I already clean de TB.

any help will be appreciate

What's the normal idle in Park / Neutral? Any work done recently? Does the cold start injector seem to be working normally?

 

When the motor is cold the idle is approx 1500

when is hot is approx 750

the cold start injector seem to work properly.

No work on the truck (stock)

i have a code 21 (o2 sensor) but i drive like that for about 3 months and i never had this idle problem before.

the exhaust pipe is broken just before the muffler.

Bad news for me :pat:

I think i have a leaking head gasket.

I lost coolant and white smoke goes out form the engine but i don't see any leaking hoses.

I think it's why i had a strange idle.

please somebody can confirm??

Ya, a blown head gasket can cause a rough/sporadic idle. Are you burning coolant?

 

yep it's burn coolant

maybe my temp indicator is broken cause it's never been on the "red" before the problem.

just hope the head is'nt cracked.

I adjusted my idle down and it took care of the eratic idle problem.

Coolant in the oil, white smoke huh. Have you ever looked at/ changed your timming chain and guides? The plastic chain guides tend to eat themselves, alowing your chain to go slack and wear a groove in the housing, right at you guessed it, the water pump. The housing cracks and lets oil in the coolant and visa versa. Check that out first before having the head torn apart.

I had remove the head this week end and i effectively have a blown head gasket.

Someone had problem with the 22re head gasket?? because the ex-owner of the truck told me that he changed the gasket 3 year ago.

Is it normal that i had to change it again??

Anyways i had buy a kit and i will change every seal and gasket on the motor.Will be a good thing .

Great kit !! for 109$ i have Head gasket,intake and exhaust gasket.valve cover gasket ,egr gasket ,o-ring for injectors,valve seal,grommet......i forgot some
