I was working that notch. The steering, as usual, took a dump.

I have a 3.4 and a crawler. My steering broke on every trip I took for a year, over 30 trails and 3 states. It would break when I was hard on it and expected it. It would break when I thought I was being careful.

Oddly, the supposedly inferior rack and pinion trucks with similar equipment kept on cruising.

Are Heim-jointed tie-rods worth getting?

Will they work/fit with factory IFS?

The way I see it is, the IFS keeps you from doing dumb things with your rig. If you are braking your IFS then most likely you are pushing your vehicle too hard, running tires that are too big or taking your rig into terrain that it just should not go. If my theory is correct, then this guy would have had a much better day had he had IFS. http://www.metacafe.com/watch/39269/4x4_vehicle/

In case you want another look.

IFS, blah, blah.
Wow you did this a few times and nothing broke? Did it steer correctly afterward?

It looks like that guy either could not see the spotter change directions OR he was a frickin' idiot for trying to play like that. I wonder if as he climbed the hill to his left, the spotter just disappeared.

Back to thread: trail spares are still cheaper than a SA, but if you keep breaking over and over....cut it off and start complaining about expensive front end parts
