well, I would like to be able to say that I was hucking 60 foot gap jumps in my tacoma, but no...nothing like that. IFS is safe on pavement, anything else and its a gamble.

Yep, parts of solid axles sure do break too, as well as springs, shackles, shock mounts...
What in the world could you be doing to break tie rods?
Running 38s and hitting every obstacle at full throttle?

Agree.... the last time I went out, a built 1st gen 4runner broke a LF axle and RF Longfield(older version), attempting to navigate a rock course that I had just completed.

no - I was running some power lines at a good clip...thats when I broke the first one; the second I have no idea...just light wheeling, sometimes fast on fire roads etc...but nothing really bad....I actually broke the dust boot first somehow and then dirt and water started getting in there and when I got around to replacing it the tie rod was busted.

Went out to acquire a new product last night. Found one I had not used before. It is a custom, high angle tie rod and connecting sleeve for old junk IFS.

Take a close look at the angles attained here. Quite the fix for long travel front suspensions.

Some of you may be familar with this pose. The last couple times, nothing was broke. This time that was not the case.

In case you want another look.

IFS, blah, blah.

Could you explain how this happened? What is because of the big tires? My Fabtech kit for my 2wd came with chromoly tubes and used Ford 3/4 ton tie rod ends. All I had to do is ream out the steering knuckle and centerlink to accept the new taper of the tie rod ends. I will take a picture if needed. Technically they should work on my 4wd. They may be a bit too long since that kit has extended upper and lower arms.

AMen! Started many a trip with em, but never seemed to finish. Always ended up towing em out. Hell, I've seen Subaru wagons in places the S10s were already broken in.
