I hate ICE!!!

Backing out of my driveway this morning...

The rig slid to one side cuz of ice buildup inside the car shelter ( http://www.abristempo.com/fr/accueil.html ), and bumped the inside of the tent where the support tubes are. I backed out using the 4X4, I'm glad it worked. I steped out to notice the damage one of the screws, which supports the structure did to my rear panel and tail light!!! F$%k... I just got the truck last week.

Metal to metal scratch on my back panel, man it's ugly. I wonder how much this is going to cost

Sorry I just needed to "vent".

Have great day.

Anybody know of a good bodyshop? Will they just use filler and re-paint or will they try to punch out the "groove" and re-paint?

What's the matter, can't read french? J/K!

In Quebec I see those things all over the place, they are very common.
None of the buildings ever have a garage and when you get 2 ft of snow on a regular basis you get tired of digging out.
I have never heard of anywhere making these illegal...but maybe in some states they are?

Actualy I live far from the city, so no neighbours. My driveway is about 40yards long on the side of a mountain where water is always running accross my driveway towards the cliff on the other side!

I just got back from Edeal Collision, they guaranty the work for as long as I own my truck. They estimated 388.78$ cdn. So that would be about 50$ us hehe!

I guess it's the cost of living in the "boonies".

Avalanche...

Hey Av, I'm in Limoges (near casselman, I work in Ottawa, grew up in Aylmer), so I'm familiar with the area. Anyways, My GF got some work done at a shop in old hull near the McDs on Masionneuve, and it was rediculously cheap. I'll see if I can get the name of the shop and I'll get back to you...

Yeah I did it myself and it works very well but as far as liability you are on your own for that mod.
I did a big writeup at one point for it:

....wish I took more pics but you can email or PM if you want help on how to do it.

I was thinking the same thing... I don't have an HOA in my neighborhood, but if someone put one of those things in their driveway I'd wish we did.

My wife is from Quebec City so we head down there every Christmas. I was surprised to see those temporary car-shelters on literally every drive-way - even mansions seemed to have them extending from the garage to the street.

I guess we don't have them in the west (Alberta and Saskatchewan) due to consistently high winds which would blow those suckers into the next block.

Can someone explain why they would be offensive or illegal?

Just cause they are ugly.
The home owner's associations basically love to make a big deal out of nothing.

Body Shop

Sorry, it's not on Maisonneuve, but it's in the area. I'll have to ask the better half tonight and get back to you.

Hmmm...until this thread, I didn't even consider someone or some group would consider them offensive or illegal. Quebec gets about 3x the snow western Canada receives so I see them as a darn smart idea - Unfortunately, just not practical for Alberta. (now, don't get me started about those dang jungle gym sets for kids....those are offensive IMHO..... )

I wouldn't think they are illegal because as stated they are temporary. They can be taken down and removed. I know here in Ontario, I have something similar in my yard to store my boat in and didn't need any permits or such because again it is only a temp shelter and can be taken down and/or moved.

Now wether they are an annoyance...thats a different story, people may not like them but still its your property and as long as you aren't breaking any laws they can complain all they want.

Body SHop

Hey Av, I was a little off, it's not off maisoneuve, its of montclaire (Beside Galeries de Hull). If you're on St. Joseph, coming from south (heading north), Turn Right on Montclaire (Just before galaries de hull) The you have to turn right on the little side street just before the Cage au Sport. It's on that street, but she doen't know the name of the place or the street name. Sorry this is kinda vague, but anyways, she had replaced her rear light assembly fixed and painted the rear fender for like $250. I think the light alone was like $125, so the guy was pretty cheap.
