I feel like an idiot.

Last night me and my buddy went out to his 94 Runner, and he just stuck the key in the back, turned it, and the back window rolled right down. So I ran over to my car, and mine does the same thing! I'm sure everyone knows this, but I was just sharing just in case.

Did you know you can close the window too, just turn the key the other direction. Try the third button on the remote.....

I was one of those who actually read my owners manual after buying mine new......

Bruce- does your remote roll the back window up??? Mine does not. Only sends it south.

dont feel dumb, i ran across this feature by accident as well. I was unlocking it and talking to someone at the same time so I left it turned over longer than normal because i was distracted and to my surprise the window started rolling down.

...another 'idiot' thing:

for 3rd gens (i am sure). your gas tank flap has a gas cap *holder* on the inside of it. remove gas cap and slide it into it (downwards).

it drove me crazy for the first few weeks that i owned my 99, but then i looked over one day and saw another 3rd gen owner doing this. needless to say, i had one of those 'moments'.

Having owned nothing but cars made in the 60's and 70's (for almost 30 years)...having my first 'new' vehicle...a '99 no less, I had quite a few moments. The rear window was the first one. "Hey honey...I can roll the back window down with my key! And I can make it go back up too!"
Realizing I could forget to turn my headlights off, and start up and they turn on to 'remind' me..was a BIG one...no mo dead batteries! Just love these modern mocheens.

It is kinda like when I found out that when you turn this "key" thing, you guys are talking about, made the motor make a vroom, vroom sound.....

This was one of the things I was most excited about on my 2000. Always pissed me off on my 95 that I had neither a gas cap holder or a hanger so I'd have to set it on the roof. I figured I'd drive off with it up there someday, and sure enough, after about 2.5 years I did it.
