Does anyone know how to clean seats? I tried the armor all oxi magic upholstery cleaner and the only "magic" was the halo satain it left around where the stain used to be

Any help or lessons learned would be swell.

My tip is to use the seat cleaner on the rest of the seat.

It sounds like it needs it.

 

Methyl hydrate...gasline antifreeze. Takes those stains right out. ANY stain.

Napa sells a interior cleaner that I have been using for years called Blue max. It works really well, especially on grease. What did you stain your seat with????

 

I've thought of renting a wet-vac kinda carpet cleaner, sort of the do it yourself stanley steamer and trying it on the seats (they are gross, were when I got it), but now I think I 'll just get new seats.

 

Yep, for real.
Up here in Cold Country we use it to take water out of the fuel system. If you live somewhere warm, you've probably never seen it. It is usually sold in 50 ml (small) bottles, but you can get it in any amount. I promise you, it WILL remove just about ANY stain and make carpet and upholstry look as-new, minus wear and tear.

 

You haven't had it eat the backing apart or anything?

I called a vacuum repair and sales place and they swear by a product called "Carpet Bright". It's blue and the label suggests gloves because it is so powerful. The owner said he uses it on all the carpet and upholstery in his car and home. It has worked wonders on my brother’s rig that had a dog in the back for years and years.

Well you sure can tell you folks are from the south. Can't tell you much, but you sure can tell

My northern brothers can back me on this...we call it gasline antifreeze. It removes water from the gasline, which if allowed to build up, forms an icecube in your gasline, which does not go away until the vehicle is either taken inside, or Spring arrives. Happened to me back in January. Poured in the MH and in about 30 minutes it settled to the spot here the ice formed in my gasline due to -30 deg. temps. and broke it up. Then I was on my way again.
Just remember, like all cleaning products, test on an inconspicuos area, in well-ventillated conditions.
Some other uses:
Methyl Hydrate is a versatile product with so many uses that all hardware and paint departments as well as camping equipment and general merchandize retailers regularly stock it.
Methyl Hydrate is used for:

Thinning shellac
Cleaning brushes that have been used with shellac
Cleaning windows, when mixed with water
Fondue fuel
Fuel for marine unpressuirzed alcohol stoves
Dissolving gums, resins, and celluloid

Scofco probably buys it by the case. Up there in the Yukon they could use it all year!
